I'm very happy and grateful to you for showing the traditional Wudang culture to the world. Shiyan is my hometown and I study overseas now. I always want to show our culture to foreigners but I don't have any knowledge about this. Therefore, your channel is a good way to show Wudang culture and I will share it with my friends.

Hello Jake, I started practicing kung fu in February this year. Interesting fact is that my (our) Sifu if I can use this term is one of your kung fu brothers from 2009-2014 "Olda", or Oldrich, maybe you remember him :) It is really an honor to learn from him and I totally respect him. Regards from Czech Republic, Miroslav!

I didn't imaging one day I can learn our Chinese culture from an American guy. Your introduction is more convince than any traditional boring Chinese education before. Feel Very enlightening from your life choose and the way you learn Wudang. Everyone has to find his own way of life, and wudang way be one suitable way for most Chinese people. We lost this valuable tradition for long time. Thank you Jack.

This is great channel. However, there are a lot of videos and it’s difficult to figure out a good sequence for study since they aren’t numbered or grouped. Can you provide some guidance? Thank you do much for your excellent teaching style.

Thank you! The basics series that follows this video should be followed in order of release. The series goes through the comprehensive stances in the order that should be practiced. You can view videos in order of release and follow that order.

I need a video on your clothing types. I watch Wuxia and see the Wu dress code and love it but I don't really understand everything.

Hmm. Yes, I have explained this in posts and even in a podcast I believe, but it would be a good idea to make a quick video about it.

At 3:43, you speak of the 3 treasures: Vitality, Energy, and Spirit. I assume there are subtleties that are lost in translation, but Vitality and Energy seem to be the same? I tried looking on Wikipedia, but it is all pretty complicated. Does the Body/Mind/Spirit approach you are taking correspond to Jing/Qi/Shen? Or are they the 3 facets that you are using to approach the ineffable? I understand that there is no way to compress such a gigantic topic into one video (let alone 3 words), but I am trying to see the outline. Great video!
@WudangWay4 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is going to be a big topic in future releases. The translations are never perfect, but Jing roughly correlates with the energy that forms life, Qi to the energy that sustains, and Shen to the energy that gives purpose. I know that is probably equally as vague in some respects but that is the problem with condensing such an idea. The subtleties are where it all happens. ;) These are the three interpretations that I am using to frame the channels moving forward. It has a nice symmetry to it.
