Thanks for this video Muhammad, it's rare to find lessons on the Yemeni technique and style. Living far from Yemen, I had to learn all these concepts by ear and by looking the fingers of oud players on KZbin. This clears a lot of stuff up. Thank you, looking forward to connecting with you! Rami

@@soundgrains4941 Well done!! This has cleared up a lot of questions for me! Is your instrument specially constructed to stand up to the higher tuning and string tensions of this tuning? I see you are using Aquila strings. Arabic?? Turkish?? Custom??

remind me of the old yemeni jewish music that was lost...
@abdullahalbraiky59563 жыл бұрын
Old Jewish Yemeni music is only differentiated from other Yemeni music by its lyrics only, so it's expected that it reminds you of it.
@MadnessRhythms3 жыл бұрын
Yemeni jews are singing yemeni music, its same songs and same heritage that both yemeni Muslim singers and Jewish singers are singing. Plus that the lyrics are always in arabic so if it was jewish music or jewish songs it would be in Hebrew not in Yemeni arabic.

excellent sound I'm a guitar player and recently bought a oud and would like to know what type of strings are you using i will be very grateful if you can assist me' thank you so much for your time
@MrGiorgioud2 жыл бұрын
They are Aquila strings in High Arabic tuning. It is important you buy the High Arabic if you like that particular sound, because there are also sets in Standard Arabic that are lower in pitch, and if you try to tune them higher to reach the pitch of High Arabic you risk of ripping the bridge off your oud. Hit me up if you need more info. I am a guitarist but have been playing the oud (and many other Oriental stringed instruments) for a long time....

That's awesome. For a westerner like me, do you have tabs? I'd love to write using this scale for oud. I'm using Fa-fa tuning, but I'd love to experiment a bit with others without breaking my strings 😆
