Hmm..Okay, I've watched all of Tomoko's episodes and I'll help her glow up from the basics (I haven't read the manga, so I don't know if she glows up or not, but I'll just help. 1. Tomoko doesn't take care of herself. This is the most basic problem. She doesn't sleep regularly, she doesn't shower (sometimes), she doesn't comb her hair, she smells musty, she rarely takes care of herself. Since she's already in high school, it would actually be great if she tried SKINCARE and tried to take care of herself, not make up, just skincare is fine. Because that's one of the topics that all girls know and she can try to socialize starting from asking for recommendations for good skincare, asking what good hair care is, or she can start looking on social media for good outfit ideas and asking for recommendations, looking for perfume.. and most girls are interested in things like that. Just talking about that can get her friends (that's the good thing about being a girl ;) topics like that are like football topics for guys. Too bad Tomoko really has a closed mindset, thinking that girls who take care of themselves are bad girls 2. Still the same problem,she has a closed mind, or,if not, weird. Often draws to her own conclusions, often insults others without looking at herself, often do weird things To her own female friends. Well, maybe because zhe's been lonely for too long (?). Maybe from her point of view, she's pitiful, but from other people's point of view, she's quite selfish and "weird"and because shes not self-aware. She should try to change his attitude to, well... at least be nice, more polite and so on. 3. Tomoko doesn't have any special hobbies/abilities. You can see that her grades are just average, she doesn't take care of herself, and none of her hobbies are useful. In order to have friends, you need to have at least one thing to be proud of about yourself. Whether it's having a hobby/interest (sports, arts, traveling, language), being smart, funny/humorous, good-looking (or at least taking care of yourself), having the same interests/frequency, and so on. Actually, this is just to be more "compatible" with the person we're talking to, or at least to have value in their eyes. For example, if you don't have a common interest, you can make the person you're talking to talk about themselves.. an example is in number 4! 4. Tomoko lacks experience in chatting, and is afraid to start a conversation first. It can be seen in the episode where she is with her younger cousin, then meets a guy who pretends to be her boyfriend, Tomoko has the opportunity to chat further, but she chooses to remain silent. In the episode where she wants to chat with the nice student council senior, she finds it really hard to just say "hi" and start a conversation. The difficulty for Tomoko is that she finds it hard to get out of her comfort zone, and she immediately wants to be blunt in desperate needs to not be perceived as quiet nor weird. Actually, the key to being able to chat with people is to practice, just with random people. It sounds scary, but that's the problem with people like Tomoko. They are afraid to take chances, afraid of being judged, afraid of this and that. You can't be afraid all the time, you won't change. 5. Tomoko is not an active child. This is actually similar to number 3, but if she really wants to be known, start by joining extracurricular activities. But she chose to rot in her room. When she is in 11th grade, she can try joining studen council. She doesn't have to be the leader, but at least join an organization, a group, that forces her to mix and socialize. If there are no activities, it's just going home-school-going-home-school plus she never socializes with her classmates, well it's hard.. just an easy extracurricular activity like English club, (the favorite extracurricular for introverted kids) is enough so she can try to find new friends :) 6. Well, what she consumes also "shapes" her. Almost all girls like Tomoko that I've met (who only like BL or those "stuff") are indeed a bit... how should I put it... strange (?) (trying to be nice haha) and are usually the favorite targets of bullying. Tomoko can try to change things like that to better things, for example, focusing more on taking care of herself, traveling, fashion, and things that are COMMON and normal. Although it's okay to like like well...uh..those "stuff" even though it's not good, especially since she's still 15 years old.. and, she talks about things like that in public and in front of new people.. that is considered really weird especially if she's trying to befriend girls. Actually, there are many types of people like Tomoko who lack self-awareness, but that's because no one has ever taught them that..when someone suddenly talks about yknow that stuff especially a girl,mostly people will just avoid her, if you're unlucky, you'll get bullied.

And no I do not watch those... weird.. thing in the internet but sometimes!- but I do not openly say those weird things to public because I am fully aware that it is really weird and inappropriate. - What I relate to tomoko is being alone all the time. Though I have friends only at school, But I never socialize them when it is "after" school because I thought it would be awkward- -But then again, I might be just overthinking, I am currently in 9th grade and I think I still have time to develop my social skills! Just a warning to anyone who decides to watch this or read the manga. If you have social anxiety on a severe level, don’t watch it. Unless it’s fully gone away. I regret watching this show a lot. I had to quit on the third episode. And the terrible teacher who made her say good morning over and over again. This show is too real. It’s the most accurate portrayal of social anxiety I’ve seen. But if you’re not ready it will leave an emotional scar. Epically if you struggle with the level of anxiety she has. Or any social anxiety, just be prepared this show doesn’t have that much happy moments. I just have to warn some people. This show is still good by the way. I loved it until the 3rd episode and the manga. Where I had to stop. After that it was painful. But if you can make it through the whole series, then that is impressive.
