This describes people I have met who are rather low functioning on the autism spectrum quite well. Imagine if you will, someone who experiences the world primarily through introverted sensing, perceives what he is sensing with introverted perception, thinks about it through introverted thinking and feels about it with introverted feeling. There you have someone who is strongly autistic.

while watching this i could not help thinking of an old college friend of mine who i thought was an extrovert but only later, after finishing school and staying in touch through facebook, learned that she was an ISTJ. on one hand she was OFTEN QUITE CALM and on the other hand she often seemed explosive, or at the least very nearly ready to explode, and she often did if ever and whenever some person or situation seemed to push her over the edge (which was no great feat to achieve). i can only think that it must be a difficult thing to manage when such conflict in distinguishing between reality and perceived reality exists internally - MOST ESPECIALLY when hanging out with cheerleaders (as she was one). - INTJ

@@InternetLiJo YES. but also not NEARLY as difficult as i suspect it might be for an SF hanging out with STs (or ANY T-type). as thinkers ABSOLUTELY CAN cognitively comprehend the basis for most affective reasoning. whereas for SFs trying to comprehend ANY sort of thinking it must be like trying to decipher some sort of alien language beyond ANY sort of personal ability (or lack thereof) to understand what is being intellectually communicated. poor SFs MUST live in a WORLD OF CONSTANT CONFUSION DAILY.

Si is peculiar for sure...but still possible to explain. As per the ritual (Si), lets dive in! Si is an eagle eye trying to dissect information. It tries to really spot the differences between one detail or sensory product from another to make CLEAR distinction no matter how small it is. It has the whole, "How did u see that?" The problem ofc is that its hard to spot, that someone with low or no Si cannot distinguish such small to negligable differences. The difference with Si or Ni is that Ni has to put a scope to see it but Si already has the ability to see it (hence eagle eye). Se can see multiple things but when it only stops at relevant information, Si tries to see beyond the naked eye. But again, the problem arises that Si is going to be "picky" with sensory information, and thats where Carl Jung was headed at its complication to see whats going on with Si. And this issue has to do with the whole "my Spidey senses are tingling". Oddly enough, Peter Parker the ENFP with inferior Si shows this. The senses dont just trigger randomly nor could it be triggered at any given moment. Its only triggered in a fight or flight response when Peter "internally senses" himself being in danger of anything. How oddly specific right? This is Si right here. And it make sense how it could be odd because its so specific. Therefore, u have to look how a Si user does things specifically to know whats happening with that inconsistent eagle eye. This is where several tactics to pull this off is key. Library, gallery, files, playbook (all about storing information) is one way. If u watch film like athletes, u need the Si to keep revisiting the actions performed at a moment to truly dissect and make a difference no matter how small. Si builds up and carries over, so when u keep paying attention to detail no matter how small, at some point u see a huge difference in results. Kinda how one trying to lose weight doesnt do it overnight, it happens one pound and one day at a time. Now we know that storing information is crucial for Si. It does that to internalize habits and muscle memory. Its easier for Si to go autopilot and do it by reflex (makes decisions overall much faster). Thats when u observe one's behavior, u can finally see the Si...through these internalized picky senses the person has because of all the work they have done in the past to be consistent with that particular trait. But like how Carl Jung said, it could be just shown in one's art. It develops that "Spidey Sense" mechanism for whatever sensory detail u may or may not have chosen to focus on and it tries to be consistent and timeless (maybe reasonable if paired with a judgment function). Which again, it becomes to a point it doesnt even feel like its a choice but a mere developed habit carefully crafted. Thats where Si truly has to be careful to not get sucked in the rabbit hole of details just to make a silly negliable distinction or enforce a damaging habit.

I know a girl who I suspect is an ISTJ - she is a creature of habit and not one to go with the flow of her peers. She is however very focused on what she wants which usually involve long-term plans that have become automatic in execution. She is not moved by excitement or superficial accolades but rather she clings to those who are consistent, she would make a good mother.
@realSimoneCherie

The irrationality is the core message. Si's are comfortable people with being irrational and inconsistent, in some cases hypocritical because they don't value Ti. They can have strong opinions about people or events, or strong preferences for their likes and dislikes which they have never assessed and can't articulate if asked. They don't see the longstanding, consistent patterns underlying their behaviors or other's behaviors - and as a result every conflict or setback is experienced in isolation, settled in isolation and bound to resurface in some other form. They diligently tend to the petals, but never to the root.
@RlyOverBored
@RlyOverBored Жыл бұрын
@@realSimoneCherie Irrationality is not the core message, it's consistency/habit. If the behavior or habit was odd, you want to be able to explain them in great detail. Usually having a formula or cheat sheet to explain most things will work for Si. The problem would then be if their variables are wrongly inputted. In fact, I would say Si users are consistent at fault to point the negative. Meaning, they are still consistent with their inconsistency/contradiction because they will always use the same reason or reasons with little to no variation to explain things and lack the Ne to provide different possibilities/pattern recognition, especially when they are wrong. At that point, the Fi or Ti of SJ types are actually at full display here with their stubbornness. So it's valued, although negatively. Second thing, you are gearing towards a negative attitude of the function as the core message which makes no sense since we are trying to explain them neutrally as much as possible to see how they fundamentally work, the pros and cons come after. The people are the ones that use the cognitive function poorly, not the cognitive function itself. Imagine if I said Ni was tunnel vision as the core message for the Ni excerpt...that would just be a complete misunderstanding like what you are doing right here. Three, the SFJs value Ti, but it's a child or inferior so obviously they have trouble using it. The NTPs value Ti as their dom or parent function so I really hope you only meant SJ types.

@@Itsmesmileyface I'm trying to think of more concrete examples on how Si is projected into reality, and how subjective Si can be when it comes to its own interpretations of how it sees reality and how contrary it is to Se. For some reason, I think of this extreme example of a parent constantly disciplining his or her children not to play violent videogames because it can make them violent growing up. I feel like this style of reasoning come from Si users (tied with Ne axis) cause it sees violent videogames and then creates this subjective interpretation of impression of how a player might grow up to be a violent person too due to what is constantly seen play out on screen. But since I'm INTJ with Ni (and Se axis), I compare myself in this scenario by seeing violent videogames, but instead I investigate the content inside that videogame for what it really is and I discern what it all means by asking the right kind of questions, treating it like its a study or research. I peer between the lines with Ni, but since I gather information through Se, concrete reality doesn't get filtered by subjective interpretations (that Si naturally does) before it reaches Ni for it to begin dissecting the content. So when I see violent videogames, I first try to understand what kind of story this videogame is actually trying to tell: Is it really teaching about violence, thus helping players to grow up and become violent people later on? Or is the violence in the game just a vehicle to tell a story that really has nothing to do about violence (depending on what genre the game is even in)? Due to how these cognitive functions are arranged and how they reach to subjective conclusions, I feel like Ni-Se axis users tend to have a better chance in reaching to a more well-rounded interpretation of reality compared to Si-Ne axis (but then again, this is only 2 cognitive functions out of 8, which everybody has and can all use and develop over time). But like all INTJs, this is just one of the many findings I have gotten, and I still need more Se and Te examples to really help me understand more about Si (cause Si is 8th for INTJs, the last). Si as a cognitive function is just very mysterious to me.
@RlyOverBored
@RlyOverBored Жыл бұрын
@@BuizelCream I can see how u can see Si being mysterious but it really isnt since its implications is centered around tracking for consistency, proper labels and frames of references. I have said in my previous post that Si is an eagle eye to information with kind of like Spidey Sense. The Si user by definition has to check the Se spectrum to perceive the sensory in the first place. The distinction is its pickyness to a particular sensory detail or objet. The reflex may as well be a compulsion. At some point, even if its subjective reality, its just like every introverted function but on the sensory perspective. When the Si user really has a proper knack for whatever sensory thing they choose to focus on, they can just pick apart all the information and nitty gritty details accurately of just one sensory object, feeling or perspective of that thing with their 5 senses. Its so ingrained in them, its on autopilot or they just be a computer detecting and dissecting every single detail to the core (u may thank Ne when they consider every single possibility). Its like the person watched film of a sport they love so much and rewind over and over to get a clear understanding of what transpires at just one single sensory action alone. Again, just look at Peter Parker, an ENFP with his Spidey Sense or just about any document with crazy details (terms and conditions) or sport analysts making full breakdowns of each play + stats + specific terms. Honestly, anyone saying "full breakdown of one topic". The time Si really gets troublesome is developping bad habits, reflexes, compulsions and poor perspective due to the lack of Ne (not checking possibilities or having deluded speculations) and doubling on Si perspective on what they know and refuse to check out. The one reason why Si is so important is because humans arent perfect and miss way too much Se information on first glances and impressions no matter the personality type. If we could easily spot the differences of everything with a simple scan of observation and remember everything, Si wouldnt be needed to be super meticulous (since Si is somewhat tied to memory). But since our observational detection and multi-tasking skills are pathetic, it isnt the case, and we use it to inform ourselves meticulously to train our observational skills. It's why we try to document and record everything too, could u imagine relying everything on memory and word of mouth? History would have been lost for the ages and our current data would be our only source....yikes but thankfully Si users would be the most willing to track history. A radical way to switch Ni into Si and get a glimpse of it is like this: Remove the scope of your current trajectory/vision and replay something over and over. Focus on the miniature/negligable details of the same music track u listen to, replay the same clip over and over, reread what you read over and over to get a true understanding of what u read, replay the same memory, etc. Just find something ur willing to go in a loop, and u see the reasoning why anyone would do such a thing: to dissect the whole sensory details u cant on your first or second try. Se heavily relies on relevance but Si will go to the nitty gritty that was missed on "Se relevance".

@@BuizelCream well... Si is SUBJECTIVE sensation so subjective reality. For Se users it might be difficult to explain since y'all see the real world through Se, you literally... See to world. For Si users the way we see the reality is very subjective, private and weird. It's our own reality, not the one you see. Each Si user have their own world, where they live in. When I was younger, I would have my own parrarel world that I lived in, inside my mind. So, I went to visit my grandparents, but in my imagination I was the king of Persia who went to see the prime minister. I went to sleepover at my cousins, but in my imagination I was a famous singer who went on a world tour and needed a place to sleep after the performance. Also, the tangible reality is very... Private to me? You will never understand (neither I will explain) why the lamp needs to be standing next to the TV in my room when I try to fall asleep. Or why I watch the same TV series every autumn. It's just brings the memory, the impression which I stored in my head, and I repeat every year, Becuase it gives me the sense of comfort and familiarity. I've just read the book and believe me. When I go for a walk with my dog, and I'll see the leave on the ground it'll remind me of that one leave which I imagined falling down when I was reading the book. It's so difficult to explain. It's a subjective perception. It's just the way I see the world, which is probably impossible to explain

@@Itsmesmileyface You're both wrong. It's virtually impossible to determine how a person's brain works, no matter what nonsense you've been told. Furthermore Jung was not only wrong, but what he says is a pile of meaningless babble. The cognitive functions (and that's a misnomer) dictate your behavioral inclinations, which in turn affect how you think. Thinking is just one aspect of behavior. It makes no logical sense to single out thinking when much of one's personality has nothing to do with thinking. Ironically, the INTJ type with tertiary Fi is highly emotional and you can see it manifest in arguments with them. In this case, really all you can surmise about LiJo is that she is unlikely to be an introvert. Introverts would likely feel uncomfortable having people staring at their face on a video over and over.
