Brazilian tennis fans are going nuts with Fonseca this year haha. And not only now, since the beginning of 2024. He might single handedly revive tennis in Brazil and cause a 2nd tennis wave just like Guga did in the late 90s (myself included, that's when I started to play as a kid).

Are you a Brazilian tennis fan? I love Fonseca as well. Was just in Brazil and sad to see and hear the lack of tennis because of no idol. Did you grow up when tennis was popular in Brazil?

I can answer that... brazilians watch sports brazilians succeed @@jerryshi88. I was a kid back when Guga played, but I only learned to love tennis some couple years after his retirement. My uncle brought an old racquet of his and I bought 3 tennis balls and started to hit it against my backyard walls. I'm 31 and I love this game more and more every day.

@@jerryshi88 I can share my personal experience. I was born in 94, and raised in the same city from Guga Kuerten. When I was a kid, Guga Kuerten was on fire, he stood up and became one of the greatest idols in our Country, he made Tennis bigger then ever, at least until 2012. At that time he retired and it was just like Tennis in Brazil retired with him. In our city, Florianópolis, our sport was still important because of him, but around our country we could see that we didn't have that many kids starting to play and learn Tennis like before. Other thing that got us to the place we're today is that Tennis is in its majority played in clubs/country clubs, we have a lack of public courts, the material to play is very expensive, so you can imagine how those things helped Tennis to have a dawn after Kuerten and the golden era of our sport here in Brazil. Hopefully Fonseca can achieve big things in our country and inspire many kids, but we have those problems that may take us to the same spot after his retirement. Just for your information, some prices to play Tennis in Brazil: *60% of Brazilian population gets Minimum Wage* Minimum Wage in Brazil: U$200,00 MONTH / U$50,00 WEEK Blade, Pure Aero, Graphene, V-core, T-flight: U$250,00~U$300,00 1 hour rental court: U$40,00 3 Balls pack: U$15,00 Tennis Classes 1 month (1 hour per week): U$70,00 That's not different with other sports (soccer/football not included), its very expensive to practice, so its hard for us to have a Brazilian at a top rank at almost every sport.

His groundstroke power is off the charts, so I would love an analysis on both his forehand and backhand.

He's probably no more than average in the ATP top 50. He played his final and semi final against pretty small guys who don't have much power which made him look more powerful.
@fwvw7056
@fwvw7056 21 күн бұрын
@@NamesAreRandom He also beat Fils (has powerful shots himself) at the Rio Open 2024. Watch back those match highlights of his QF run there. Speed of the ball on that clay court was intense. And for an 17 (then) / 18 year old to be on average with the top 50 in power is really good I'd say.

Really like how clear and practical your content is-makes it easy to apply! Mental preparation is something a lot of athletes miss when working on their serve. We’ve been building an app focused on guided visualizations and meditations. Tennis players are finding it very helpful, and I’d love to explore a collab-mind if I shoot you an email?

Nick why aren't you holding that Dunlop FX 500 tour that you loved so much? I just bought the regular FX and loved it. Played with it for the first time today. Amazing frame. I can feel the weight in the head but it doesn't feel head heavy though. Very stable and handled heavy shots easily without being pushed around.

Great frame. Had some issues with quality control during play test. While the demo LS felt great, the others that I tried afterwards (LS & 300) had a different feel.
@GinoFerreri
@GinoFerreri 19 күн бұрын
@IntuitiveTennis I'm not sure what quality control are you referring to. I noticed that both of my 300 have a weight discrepancy. I'm playing a tournament today but after it, I will cut out strings and check weights of these frames. Right now, the discrepancy is 9 grams with 1 frame strung with tour bute 17gauge and the other one strung with Head Lynx 18 gauge.

Fonseca was always seem as a huge talent here in Brazil. It's amazing to see how he's developed his skills and personality. However, sometimes it seems he still wants to hit highlights winners from anywhere, what leeds to unforced and unecessary errors. It's like he trusts too much in his hand and power. Of course he will develop it, as he's still maturing as a player. Also, there's the hype, what is very big. From my point of view, that's what people around him should care about the most. If he and people around him can handle it, then he can achieve big things, because his potential is phenomenal.

Fonseca is definitely a future top3 player has everything in place but the serve. It looks like to be a liability against the very top players. Sinner has the edge in serving against all his possible GS contenders except Zverev.
