Hi John, Thanks for this video series. I followed all your videos and it seems working as expected. I will go through other videos as well as those are helpful. Thanks again!

Happy to hear, yes I have pretty many Microsoft Intune videos and the console changes sometimes but all videos are still valid and useful in real life. Thanks

Hi John, kindly let me know logic of using power shell detection script since builtin detection logic is already existing (file, registry, windows product code)
@IntuneVitaDoctrina8 ай бұрын
Hi, good question. I'm not a big fan any more of product code, since if you upgrade the software that one could be obsolite. I am a huge dan of file/registry key for detection logic. When to use script? I like to use script when I check for the latest software if it is installed, like I cannot look for a file john.exe and what version, since I don't know the version :) there the script often using winget.exe get the latest version for me and verify that the installed has same version, if not, the detection fails and program runs.

Great video. Thank you for that! Some questions if I may: Will this installation allow Adobe to continue to update itself in the background without user intervention and without the need to deploy any further updates via Intune or otherwise? When would you use the "user" context instead of "system"?

Thanks a lot Seth, two very good questions, I start to answer the for me easy one. Q1. When would you run in user context A1: If the application want to install under c:\users\username\appdata\local %localappdata% or %appdata% then you must install under user context and by default a user got permission to their own profile. Could also be if you want to push a Shortcut to the users desktop, then you can run under user. I would say it is rare, but more and more apps unfortunately installs under user profile to go around local admin. Q2. Will Adobe Acrobat Reader Auto Update? (also: can I deploy it and go away or do I need to repackage new versions?) A2: Not by default, I'm using a scheduled task running RUM (adobe Remote Update Manager) which also update Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator and all other software from Adobe, so a huge fan of that tool, run it once a week on all devices: helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/using/using-remote-update-manager.html

Thank you very much John! If we want to update the Acrobat Reader, can we create a new app like this one & use Supersedence? Am I correct?
@IntuneVitaDoctrina10 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot for the comment, yes that would work, If Adobe Reader exists in Winget (and I believe is does) you can also use that to update with a remediation script. You can also package Adobe Remote Update and run it as a scheduled task to update Adobe Reader. Many roads leads to Rom :) but your suggestion works for sure! good one

Hello jhon, I am using your videos a lot, thank you. I have encountered difficulties when I use it with the "app.exe" application, which users, not admin, cannot install them. My question is, can setup be given exclusivity so it can be installed? Thanks for your videos.

Hi, happy to hear. Let me see if I understood correctly, you want to install app.exe, and none-admins cannot install it. If you package it as a Win32 app and run under SYSTEM context (default) then it will not install as user but as system which have permission, so you should be good to go :)
