the classic when i gank: invader runs away for 30 min, hardswaps to every weapon in the game, their dragon breath does 90% health, always has perfect roll timing even when running away, flawlessly rolls thru all three of our attacks and kill us one by one, or all at once. me when i invade and they gank: my dragon breath only does 30% health if im lucky, keep getting rollcaught even though im timing it right. cant dodge thru all three ganker attacks, and somehow gets chased down when running away.

Man, I was doing the mandatory three invasions for Varre’s quest, knew already how dead I was, so I wasn’t taking it too seriously. I get into one invasion, and everybody is super polite, we gesture at each other, do a bit of spinning and shield spamming as is only right, then they proceed to shove my head up the Tree Sentinel’s ass and have the gall to point down at me as I fade out. The nerve.

I've probably gotten a hundred or so Jar Cannon kills by being a rooftop sniper invader in Leyndel. Just harass people into running into rooms full of knights and pages that kill them if they survive the explosive shot, ensuring that nowhere is safe.

I'm glad you're here. I play offline specifically so I don't have messages and invaders everywhere. I've only ever joined a random game to help people. My question is why? Why do you invade? Does the game give you something? Is it a thrill? It can't be the joy of the competition because all these random invasions I see are the two sides seeing who can pull out the dirtier trick and win. Hiding behind objects, drawing enemies, or ambushing with hidden cooperators. When you beat someone who isn't using the strongest weapons and techniques in the game, unprepared to fight you, do you pat yourself on the back? What is the mentality here?

I'm guilty of being a Gransax bolt sniper, complete with Concealing Veil and every possible stackable damage booster for the sole purpose of making sure that no one lives through a shot. The only reason i do this is because you'd have to be really stupid to think that i would ever willingly fight an up-close 1v3 with 2 of my opponents probably being password mooks 10x my level too, so i make sure that the feeling of absolute loathing is as mutual as possible.

0:02 Some jolly coop 0:07 Aaaand fun's over. Just so you all know, the summoning system in this game works like that. You either have to summon someone to be invaded or use a special item to get invaded... Now this system is... flawed... Very flawed... Actually it's fucking trash, but we will get to it later. 0:14 This is Rivers of Blood. A Katana that causes bleed, one of the most broken status effects because once it's on max it just takes away BIG chunk of your HP and this weapon was once capable of filling it with 1 or 2 swings and even do it while enemy rolls. Broken. Thankfully it was somewhat nerfed. But it was trash to fight against. You get it from certain annoying invader from a late game area. 0:24 Very balanced as you can see 0:37 This amazing weapon is a Jar Canon you get from a boss from Volcano Cave near Volcano Manor (imaginative naming scheme is one of the highlights of this game) 0:40 It's fun to snipe others with 0:44 And good old force Pushing from elevators. It's fun to be an invader... sometimes... No... actually not really. You'll know what I mean 0:53 Here the guy basically used a special mix of that changing bottle. He made himself a suicide bomber basically, he dies then he explodes. 0:56 Chameleon killing is also funny, here this guy uses an item called Marika's Mischief which you can find at Stormveil (also funny fact, Godrick used it to run away from capital when Radahn attacked it, he was in form of a woman). 1:10 Aaaand here is the sucky part of being an invader. Do you know why this previous one used such a broken build? 1:20 That. You 99% of the time get a FUCKING gank. A Gank READY to beat you up, just waiting, doing jack shit, only waiting to beat some invader for luls. Making it straight up NOT fun to invade. Because not only you get gank most of the time, but you also get lots of nerfs on you as well. And not only that, but the Tongue, an item you can use to be invaded solo is BROKEN as well, as are invasions as a whole. There is NO cooldown on invasions. In other souls games it was like 15 minutes in between them, here it's fucking nothing and if there is it's so goddamn short that it feels like you are being invaded in a very artificial and unsatisfying way so no one BOTHERS with the Tongue. It's infuriating. Good lord. There is some enjoyment to be found there, but most of the time it's just not fun in any shape or form. Not only that, but you also need to use limited item to use the tongue in the first place... Nice.

Recently got smashed by a guy in heavy armor who turned a shield charge into a bleed build. If you're in light armor for better mobility, you don't have enough poise to survive the stagger lock. I didn't even realize that was a thing, but in hindsight it makes perfect sense. Apparently the best offense is a defense that is _also_ an offense. 😆

I recently invaded a Blaidd cosplayer, and the hunter who showed up kept spamming RoB and... hiding _behind the host_ whenever I fired a spell at them? 🤨 Even the host got so disgusted that he started doing petty things to sabotage the hunter until I killed them. Then he dropped some healing stones for us both to reset before we fought one another. "Just a Cute Furry UwU" 🐺, wherever you are now, you are a real chad.

Hell yeah! Reminds me of my very first playthrough, stumbling across Varré in the Rose Church and wanting to do his quest (before the offline version existed). I, a baby, invaded for the first time. I didn't know I could just immediately leave and it would count, and seeing as Elden Ring was my first FromSoft game, I had _no idea_ there was pvp etiquette (thank goodness the etiquette is mostly around duels, not invasions!). One of the invasions, my under-levelled ass tromping through Liurnia just... couldn't find the host. And then _another_ invader joined. And we stared at each other, and we both _couldn't find them._ The map icon did no help - they were _gone._ I can't remember which is which, but one of us ran and grabbed the other when the players were found! My last invasion, this person was wearing Alberich's set, so were either on NG+ or had gone _back_ to Liurnia for whatever reason. And I think they could tell I was a stressed out noob doing Varré's quest, because they stopped and bowed. And then they waited patiently while I fumbled through my emote menu (that I had previously ignored entirely) to find my own bow. And then they fought me, and I could tell they went easy on me. But when I inevitably lost, they made sure to run up and bow again at my corpse. I went from feeling like shit about not just invading, but not knowing what I was doing and feeling just _bad_ about everything, to grinning like an idiot about dying. This person could tell I was new and stressed, so they treated my invasion like a duel to show me some sportsmanship and respect. And _that_ interaction is what made me not immediately reject PVP due to social anxiety, lmao! Because I was _trash_ and a complete noob in that last invasion, but the host still went out of their way to be welcoming and friendly to their bumbling invader. Yeah, assholes exist in this game, but my god, the respect and support people have for each other in these games is mind blowing! Uhhh thanks for coming to my Ted Talk, I apologize for rambling, I just woke up from an involuntary TWO HOUR nap and so I'm very frazzled 😅

@@ragnerschwarzmane3412 We're on Xbox but we so wished that mod was available. That being said we did decide a good alternative would be to have invaders be a opt in option that would passively increase the ruins you acquired.

@@lackinganame7857 In all honesty, the advantage of 2 players is so massive that either the invader has to have either an ultra cheese setup or be a god at the game (maybe both) to ever feasibly win, or you and whoever you're co-oping have to suck so badly that the massive numbers advantage is countered by incompetence. Sometimes it's all of these factors at once, but any tiny semblance of competence makes it very difficult to ever lose to invaders when co-oping because co-op in itself is such a massively one-sided advantage.

I played much of the game in co-op and by mid game when we got invaded, as the mage I'd just spam Stars of Ruin while they melee'd with my friend, and inevitably they'd off back to where they'd come from because if they stood still for more than a second they'd get slammed.

God I love that flask. I remember my friend got invaded in his world while I was there and the dude just kept running then rolling in and attacking us before rolling out so we could never get a solid hit on him. When one of the traps hit him I realized he had super low health so I went, "I got this!" and chugged that flask and ran forward and just kept chasing him until he was between my explosion and an arrow trap and got killed xD. I only survived with like 5HP and some lucky rolls to avoid the arrows.
