Indeed it was his Zim's real voice, but it took a lot out of him to SCREAM while voicing the character. They could have used an old trick of recording the original at regular volume, then re-record it LOUD - just below distortion. Richard could scream softer to save his voice. (In the early years of movies they had cartoon breaks) They did the same thing throughout 'Bugs Bunny' cartoons,creating vibrant audio. And back then the competitors were going crazy wondering how they did it. - Final note: They got big bucks from the movie industries for making cartoon breaks in movies until about the 1960's Then the idiot movie industry decided to cut the cord$$$. Cheap bastards.. Tom and Jerry was another work or art because of their previous generosity.
