Inventory Cycle Count in QuickBooks Enterprise using Excel

We turned on Advanced Inventory just over a year ago but one of the challenges we have found is getting accurate counts. The company has sales orders that take some time to execute (installation of a mix of inventory and parts purchased specifically for the SO). This means we have to always go through multiple steps before a count to ensure we know the status of inventory parts on open sales orders - are the parts at a job site (in which case add them to the physical count), are they in bins waiting for other parts to come before they go to a job site (again add them to the physical count) or are they still in the warehouse because inventory parts on the sales order have not been pulled yet (ignore as they should be part of the count - in this case we always try to pull all the inventory parts on SO's before starting a count so we can just take the QB on Sales Order quantity and add it to the physical warehouse count). This is a painful process when doing a full physical count and it's almost impossible to go through just for a cycle count. Any thoughts? The owner wants to look at bar coding and hand-helds but I'm not sure that will help.

Hi Hector, on the report " inventory stock status by item", it its showing "uncategorized" on the category column. Where do I go to change it?

You would need to add a category to all those items

I am having an error message saying : Quickbooks or your devise isnt connected/ Session has timed out/Problem with the server. I have checked and I am connected since I work from the office...I am not sure what the problem is. Would you have any idea?

If I have one item in multiple locations can I use the cycle count potion to scan each item in its location to obtain counts? Each time I try it tells me " you have selected one or more items which were not set up at this site. These will not be added to the cycle count" How to I set up an item at multiple sites without having to adjust or transfer into each one? I have an item list of 2700 items.

You need to count items by site:bin. You can’t count them across all sites:bins You can have to do site by site
