Your attempt is great with examples. Best ever and easy to understand. Please also elaborate the alpha value. How it is considered.

First, thank you for this clear example. Second, do you mind if I link this to one of my courses (well, for the next time I teach spatial statistics)? Third, if we are calculating an inverse distance weights matrix (wij), would the 9.45 for the cell entry in a 6 x 6 matrix of wij? Or would we also need a value for the unknown sixth observation if we wanted to create an inverse weights matrix? I guess I am asking, is 9.45 the interpolated value for this sixth observation? Or is the 9.45 solely a measure of the influence of the neighboring observations, independent of the mesurement at that sixth location? I suspect I just confused myself. Fifth, do you have another video where you extend this into matrix algebra? Your example sets students just on the cusp of applying matrix multiplication to solve for all the cells in the inverse distance weights matrix, if I understand these things correctly. Sixth, what software did you use to set up this video? Is it MS-whiteboard with two image files and the background set to black?
