And the player can be more effective in the role; you're telling him to "cut inside" more by selecting him for that player role, and he likes to cut inside more with his player trait. What you're essentially saying to him is: "You know that thing you like to do? Do more of that"

Another amazing video. As a suggestion for everybody: in the very same position, a mix of the two roles - a scorer with creativity - is the trequartista. That's how Messi actually started his career at Barcelona, cutting inside from the right. So if you have a fantasista you want to put against full backs, an inverted foot who can cut inside and both assist and score, use a trequartista

Great video as always. It's a joke, that you have only 5k subscribers. I would love to see IF/IW comparison which includes W who plays on the opposite side then his stronger foot. For 2 seasons I play on left wing of 4-3-3 with a right footed guy who is good dribbler, fine finisher with decent crosses but with low passes. I think that player who is neither IW or IF is suppossed to be played as W [a] on opposite flank. Then he will either try dribble at goal or cross with stronger foot. But... tbh I am not sure if this is something that is true, or something that I want to see. I would love to hear other opinions in that matter.

Thanks! And I think I may try to do something on the big 3 wide players: inside forward, inverted winger, and winger. And yea sometimes a winger is better for a more "general" player; where don't you think he's good enough to fit the IF or IW. You could also try him as a wide midfielder if you want to move him back in the midfield. That's good role for some of those less technical players

FM should introduce the "Half-Winger" thomas tuchel talked about, a winger that plays like an attacking midfielder, playing in the half-space or even the 10 space (area 14), and being mainly a creator. I always wanted to have a winger playing narrow and creating like a midfielder, inside forward is too focused on scoring and inverted winger likes to stay wider and drifts wide.

I've only been using Pedri as an AP in the CM position and even though he averages a 7.0 he doesn't quite have the impact i'd like him too. I never thought about trying him out wide as an IW but i might just give that a try.

The IW has juuuuust enough playmaking to take advantage of the attributes of player's like Pedri. Plus he's out on the winger separate from the midfield congestion

how would you differentiate saka and martinelli in these roles? I feel like they both hold width, especially martinelli. Martinelli more IW and Saka IF?

That would definitely work! One thing you want to keep in mind is Martinelli is better with his right foot, so you'd want to play him on the right side if using him as an IW (that makes sure his dominant foot is the one doing the crossing). An an inside forward on the left side, so he cuts inside using his dominant foot. And even then, it's still "reasonable" so not a deal breaker. Saka can play on either side since he's adept with either foot. He's an interesting one since he'll be World Class at either role. Personally, I'd probably play him as an IW (good crossing, elite decision making). But his dribbling and acceleration would be absolutely deadly for an IF, so you could talk me into that. I can't tell if I answered your question or not haha. But hopefully that helps at least a litle

@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker It does, I think the way im gonna it is Martinelli IF-S, and saka IW A on the right. Im curious what would you use havertz for? Hes not a natural in striker in the game so Im not sure where to put him since I like a 4-3-3

@@dmitris.7195 I actually had some luck with Havertz as a Shadow Striker. So a 4-2-3-1, Gabriel/Nketiah as an advanced forward (swap based on who's playing well), Martinelli/Saka on the wings (I think it was either IW/IW or IW/IF), Havertz a Shadow Striker. For the midfield, Rice as a Carrilero and Odegaard as a DLP (defend). I've talked with a couple other Gunner fans and they like to use Odegaard in a more advanced position, so your mileage may vary. If you want to use a 433, I'd probably use Havertz as maybe a mezzala, Odegaard either a CM(A) or AP, and Rice as a DM.

A slightly higher tempo will tell my players to move the ball a little quicker than they normally would. It's good for exploiting gaps in the defense (but the trade off is that you'll probably have more turnovers). I like the kind of ball movement it gives so I usually use it as a good starting point. @@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker it just has a lot of subtractions in the tactical instructions. For example there's no Carrilero, Regista, Enganche and some others. There's Look for Underlap, Play for set pieces e.t.c So some tactics and that work in the main one don't usually work on it and vice versa. But your videos have been really helpful in understanding the game nevertheless 🙌
