Compared to some other youtubers whose content is more contrived and exaggerated, I find David has a very warm personality and his content spontaneous, with an emotional reaction that is very genuine. I also appreciate his observations that look beyond the surface and give you some additional insight into the place and its people.

These are your best videos... no editing, no touristy areas, just a simple walk & talk. As a big time, Hollywood star like you would say: "Show, don't tell." Most other Colombia YT channels are either exploitative or some dude talking into a camera for 30 minutes from his couch.

That park in Bello is quite nice. Bello is a seperate municipality just so viewers don't get confused. I remember someone thinking Envigado is in Medellin. It's in the metro area. Some people that lived there said things have been getting worse in the last few years regarding public safety. I live in the mountain countryside of Guarne. Very happy out here. Good vlog David. Have a happy, healthy and prsoperous 2025 and everyone here too.

Hey David!! Que chimba parce!! Your back!! Thank god the pandemic is over. I had to go to Mexico too when the Colombian borders were closed for so long. I was able to live in Puerta Viarta and Cancun. Yes, the food is definitely not nearly the same. This is the 1st time back to Medellin in 4 years for me and just went for a walking tour of Bello myself last weeK 😂. I was just thinking a few days ago to keep my eyes out maybe I’ll run into you on the Metro one of these days, that would be cool. Be careful, at San Antonio they stole my phone out of my pocket as I was transferring lines and boarding the other day. The police said there’s gangs. Since reporting it I do see an occasional officer there but only on the other side which does nothing to help as the other train comes. I recommend don’t take your phone out on the train anymore even though everyone else does.

I've been to a strato 4 part of Bello in the western mountains where a friend lives. It was high rises and generally a chill spot. Her house was pretty nice as was her neighbor's. I've also gone to Fabricato a few times. Like with everywhere else there are good parts and bad parts. There are some rough parts of Belen and even Laureles (heard by the river is rough). Similarly there are nicer parts of Bello. Anyway I'd go with someone you know well and trust (this is key and of course you can't trust just anyone). They can tell you where to go and not to go.

Bello, is not dangerous to visit. I have lived in Medellin for 4 years and Bello is one of my favorite cities. They will be quick to tell you Bello isn't in Medellin btw. It's when you live there as a foreigner I been told the people scheme on you and watch you for a way to extort you. I personally have nothing negative to say about Bello, the skyline is gorgeous and the parks are OP to not include the beautiful people that live there. But its like any "hood" if you aren't from there you are likely to have some issues until you are there so long they forget you aren't from there.
@troyn.672322 сағат бұрын
been in Bello many times. it does get a little sketchy at night. that is when it gets really interesting. i was there in 2019 and saw a guy ride up to the cafe i was eating at on a S-Works Venge wearing flip flops. for those that dont know this was a 12k+ usd bicycle. i told my friends how much it cost. they looked at me and said yeh thats the leader of one of the gangs in the area. Bello is its own little world can be very dangerous if you dont know how to take care of yourself

I was in Medellín the third week of November. Poblado, Laureles were ok, but the rest of the city is extremely noisy, a lot of improvised street food, businesses , total mess. The informel economy seem to be the norm (about 80%) ! The country has great potentiel but gangrained by crime, corruption and lack of discipline. Good reports Dave.

I am struggling to learn the language as I am also dyslexic, it would be nice to be able to have a conversation. I have thought about taking a six-month vacation to the country to help but I am not sure if I would learn enough due to the dyslexia that would hold me back! I looked at the school you mentioned in a previous video!
