When I was that age, having a boyfriend meant talking on the phone and hanging out at school together, maybe the park. Sounds like Jocelyn was a very typical 12 year old. I’ve taken Victimology classes, and predators target children, because they are weaker, and often unsuspecting. Also, they have few experiences, so they are less likely to be prepared for the possibility of an attack, or be able to defend themselves. This has nothing to do with parenting, or Jocelyn’s behavior. If she had known how much danger she would be in, I’m sure she would not have gone outside. I snuck out, at 12, just to see if I would get away with it. My cousin was with me. Her big, deviant plan was to TP a yard. I didn’t want to do that, though.
