Native American children lost their lives at two boarding schools in Indiana between 1883 and 1895. As the U.S. Department of the Interior makes plans to release the result of their investigation into these institutions, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources is taking a closer look at how many more children remain unaccounted for in grave sites across the state.
In this WTHR documentary, Digital Reporter Madison Stacey revisits this overlooked period of Indiana history.

Native American's and Canada's First Nation's were lead to culture, separation to genocide. My GGGrandfather Captain James Douglas Warren came from P.E.I., in 1885 and opened up the Trade Routes around Vancouver Island to the Haida Gwaii. This weekend our family put up a carving at the Sannich Elementary School in VICTORIA, B.C. To honour or GGGram Tossimitsa Edenshaw, she was a Chief's daughter from the Haida Gwaii. She survived Kuper Island, to become the oldest native to die on it in 1931 at 104. Tutsumutsa aka Mary Warren William's, was the only Women First Nation's Treaty Holder. Lucky my Penaluket Father passed this on as most was unbeknownst till 20 years ago. This is the truth, and has to have reconciliation, and Indian Act Dissolved & hold the Catholic and other churches accountable.

When they check for graves, make sure that land is historically surveyed, or the grave detectors will count other structures underground when they use them....it's hush hush in Canada, because the numbers are so high. What happened to my family is nothing less than evil. But what can we do today that happened yesterday? We don't forget the ones we lost at the hands of the "colonists" and those who were stolen and taken to a boarding school from hell, we remember them and make them proud, remember why we don't have a word for goodbye.. Isn't there ground penetrating radar available these days?? Wouldn't hurt to use something like that, cause if they were hiding a lot of deaths then I would think that it's quite possible that there would be unmarked graves plotted around the places..

Adam, They used such equipment to find graves of Holocaust victims, they should use it for the purposes of locating these graves so they can be repatriated into their tribes and be buried according to their customs. It should be done. The US government has an obligation here. Even though the ones who ordered and committed these wrongs are not here, at least we can correct this by locating those graves.

George Washington made it known that he wanted the White House to be specifically built as a triangle🔺️. Every president throwing the 🤘 pledge of brotherhood is not accidental. It never was about the church. Science was discovered right before they left Europe during the Renaissance era. The triangular trade would snatch resources for Asia, Middle East and European Nations. European colonizers would set off toward the America's to discover a land with no infrastructure. This would lead to the enslaved building a nation with their blood and sweat. They wanted to create a country built on their own ideologies and to serve their needs alone. And they did. The Natives have been silenced, stripped of resources and given alcohol, disease and poverty to self destruct.

It takes a brave soul to stand and go along with the direction of the same school that is abusing your own blood, yet a stronger soul to keep all those events organized on timelines to later account for the portions that made up others lives. She carried the Truth and for that she will always remain protected by warriors. The funding was initially served out under the names, St. Joseph and Rensselaer, without an assigned location and only a name sitting next to the pool of funding, similar boarding schools under the same names began propping up. For instance St Joseph's Villa in Rochester NY where my son was forced to go in 2009-2011, was previously an indian boarding school. Another can be found in Rensselaer New York by Troy New York. In conducting research on these places, you will be surprised at how they all got started under a similar name and how the funding was used to build more and more of the same, later used for other white privileges and purposes. Many destroyed along the way, making the ability to locate them all, impossible. Blue Prints for ongoing abuse. A reflection would be the Cash For Kids Scandal in Pennsylvania.

@@doveleboeuf6625 We probably differ on that word, Blessed, to me a person who is Blessed goes through life unscaved where violence is perhaps an odd occurrence where they were scolded and tones raised above a yell, where little to no obstacles stand in their way and they are allowed to live, normal, happy, productive lives and if any unsettling things occur, there are plenty of people standing by their side to protect them. I was not Blessed in this lifetime, nor were my children. I like how you bring up Cults, because I have found that each community in the US operates much like Cults in that they are directed to do the things they do to others by a Board of Supervisors, much like in your common day workplace you have a supervisor that directs the work flow, these community supervisors direct the government employees on what they need to do to keep funding coming into their communities. They actually believe that they need to justify their jobs and the amount of funding they take, but in all reality there is no one watching or monitoring these people, for if there were, dont you think we would see more accountability? More government employees losing their jobs? More reductions in pay? And of course my all time favorite which is proof in their pudding, we'd see all that extra funding used to pay down the national debt to help reduce costs associated with inflation. I have never seen any of these things in my lifetime and I'm almost 60 years old. We're slaves to a system designed to put all the luxuries in life on the government employee side. When I was 16 I was sent too whites family services in 2018 for a probation violation and I had to stay there for 11 months of my life until I escaped in 2019. I’m 3/4ths native being mostly Blackfoot. My program was only suppose to be 3 months but they wouldn’t start my program until I cut my hair. When it started to grow back past my ears and my eyebrows they wouldn’t allow me to continue progressing in my program until I cut it again. They tried too force Christianity on me, sending me to a mandatory chapel 3 times a week. And if I decided not to go they would send me too the “refocus unit” which is basically isolation and force me too watch an “educational video” They still try to destroy culture there. I’m so thankful God allowed me too leave that place. Thankyou for spreading awareness on this, I remember seeing the pictures of natives with there hair cut standing in front of white men and thinking how wrong it is that this place is still in business doing the same practices.

No, there’s no record of blacks attending the schools. Slavery was outlawed fully by 1865. The first Indian school opened in 1879.
