Investigative videography - who is this teeny baby ?

You are truly amazing, Mr. Marisco. To go back and hunt up footage of her from two years ago is really beyond wonderful. I don't know to what we can attribute her decline but of course, constant injury will wear any thing down. Hopefully she doesn't have some underlying pathology that is slowly weakening her. One thing that cannot be disputed and that is she is a wonderful mother. Not only does she continue to feed her babies even when she clearly could use the nutrition herself but her entire demeanor to her babies is that of a doting mother. She cradles them protectively, she shields them from the wind, she holds them to her chest with pure love and the look in her eyes is that of a mother who will do anything to see her baby survive. It goes against their basic nature but she is a special one, I think. She is beautiful and I hope and pray she heals. Deborah

@@jamessimms415 I agree, don't know what they are looking at but I see maternal love in all of these videos. Even mother's that are not the best will come running to protect their babies. I think the lack of ability to see the bond is more a reflection of the viewer than it is the monkey.

Is another monkey attacking her. Poor thing, to bad she couldn't get a helping had from man. She has definitely gone down hill. Such a wonderful mom.

@@brendajoycewhite5747 So this is Skinny. At the time that Arroz was taping her for this episode, she had had 3 injuries in a row. One would just get healed and she would have another. She had an open wound on her hip which took awhile but healed. Then she was bitten on one leg and now the other leg. No one really knows what happened. She has always been low ranking and she has tried hanging on the edge of other troops trying to maybe join them but never successfully. The baby that she had during this film is Skimpy. When you watch other videos of the two of them, you see Skimpy run into the midst of higher ranking monkeys to eat. For awhile, they let her get away with it. She was just a really tiny baby, after all, but the past couple of times, they have run her off. I think that Skinny may be getting hurt trying to get her baby out of bad situations. Being a baby and very hungry, it would be hard to control her. Arroz has helped her quite a lot. He has given her sweet potato and other vegetables. It is a sad case. I haven't see her for awhile in the videos. I am sure she is still alive. She was sterilized after the baby in this video was born so she won't be having anymore babies. Sad as that is, I am sure her body can use the rest.

Her babies don’t look as malnourished as Tina’s babies do! I still feel bad for her though, as I do for all of the unfortunate ones. 😭

I cant image having to wait to eat bc of your status in the group. Skinny truly is a survivor a d Skimpy has a wonderful mom. She was t so Skinny back in 2016 her coat looked great. I wonder what happened to her. I think that baby is the sister we saw a few weeks ago with Skinny and Skimpy

Skinny’s baby has similar eyes to Dopey as a baby. Big and round. Such a sweet little one. This class system among macaques is a sad state of affairs. A human trait they could have done without.

I absolutely remember that video you put out two or three years ago with Skinny walking across the bridge and testing her milk. I didn't know that was Skinny until this video, but that scene left an impression on me because it was a drought year and many of the monkeys were suffering from hunger. Sad & heartbreaking as it is, that’s Nature in action & a mechanism on regulating the population & strengthening the species. Only the strong ones will survive & weak bloodlines/offspring don’t survive. That’s how it is in all of the animal kingdom & only the strongest of the weak will survive. It is what it is & nothing you, I, or anyone else can do abt it except accept it for what it is & try to understand it.

Wow...Your just wonderful Arroz! You went back to look through all your old footage to see if you could find anything with her in it! I actually vaguely remember seeing that old footage of her. I'm sure you posted it in a older video, right? Yes, she has always been a small girl but she's definitely much thinner now that's for sure. Her being thin, tired,and having poor malnutrition has defiantly aged her looks as well. Now that We got to see her back just under three yrs ago compared to now, it made me look closer into her face today and she in fact still has a baby face but you wouldn't know it bc of her malnutrition. I think that baby she was nursing back in 2016 is that juvenile that you filmed just last week with her where you commented that she in fact has a family. It seems about right going by the age/size of her older daughter. Which would make her 3 yrs old. She's such a wonderful mummy but the constant nursing is really taking a toll on her body even more so. I know we've seen her baby off her teat "playing" just a rare few times but normally at that age they are starting to wander and be curious of whats around them even if they are playing at mums feet. Mum is SO skittish which is half the problem. I feel she sacrifices by encouraging baby to nurse more so she is held safely in her arms. Maybe I'm wrong but I get that impression. Not good for her and or baby in the long run. Thank god she's now lifting up removing her teat from baby's mouth when shes just comfort suckling and not eating persea'. I don't see how she hasn't ran out of milk yet ,seeing how much that baby is on the tit and of course her weight as well..Bless her wonderful heart...Poor girl

Great investigation! I don't understand what keeps her with this large troop. We only see a very tiny bit of her life but I noticed her always alone with her baby. Wouldn't she get more opportunity to eat in a smaller troop?

She's probably always been picked on, due to her low ranking status. As is true with most of us, however, as she ages, it's most likely becoming increasingly more difficult for her to bounce back each time. Unfortunately, I'm afraid she will one day have one altercation too many and will then find it impossible to bounce back. Poor girl!

Just me but if I was there I'd always carry something extra for her and her baby. I get it that she's at the bottom of the pole but still its not fair that her and her baby should miss out. Great Video!.

He normally carries something for the less fortunate but must be very careful and only give it when no other monkeys are around so as to prevent any punishment for her by the other monkeys

6:28 GOD BLESS YOU FOR YOUR TYPO'S you just reminded me a wonderful time when my oldest son was about 5 and he couldn't say the word girl all he could say was Burl/Birl. It was so cute and funny trying to teach him how to say girl and nothing we did would get him to say it right. We would tell him to say the name Earl and he could. Then say Girl and we got Blurl. LOL That was in 2000. My son is dead now. He passed away of a pain medication overdose for his Muscular Dystrophy (Charcot Marie Tooth) Sept 13, 2017 he was only 23 years old. *_THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT MEMORY._*

November through March are leaner months as far as food goes, in the Northern Hemisphere. Perhaps she's getting bit/attacked more due to food scarcity.

Has the alpha of the troop changed? Perhaps other members of the alpha family group have grown more aggressive with age. Whatever has happened, the future is looking bleak for poor Skinny.

In 2016 the alpha was still Skull Head. I think Skinny has always been low-ranking but probably more so recently.
