1:55 :- (Sensex 500x Returns Myth) Sensex was created on 1st Jan 1986 with Base Value of 100 & Base Year as 1979. So, in 1979 Sensex didn't even exist. Even Raamdeo Agrawal didn't knew what Sensex was in 1979 & forget about investing in it. First Index Fund in India was launched on 1st July 1998 by UTI. That means you would not have been able to Invest in Sensex for the first 20 years.
