I followed Bill and his canslim philosophy from the day he started IBD Daily. I can honestly say the only time I lose on a trade is when I don’t follow the simple rules laid out in Bills book HOW TO MAKE MONEY IN STOCKS . NEVER lose more than 7 percent was the original base line and later 8 percent. I laugh while I’m crying while the bottom falls out of a trade because I didn’t follow that one critical rule. I miss Bill today but you all keep his guiding rules alive with talks like this. My thanks to all of you.

I believe the CANSLIM strategy advocates sitting tight and holding on to a market leader for at least 12-18 months. Most of us trade way too often. Granted, selling is justified when a stock breaks down below trend or especially if the stock is not performing and turns into a 7%-8% loss position. 40:12 It's interesting that later in the video, it's mentioned that Bill O'Neil actually held some big winners for multiple years. For example Pic n Save was held for for 7 years. This is an amazing revelation! I never heard that before. 35:29 Nvidia..yes! Where's SMCI or VRT? 🙂 47:48 Buy big stocks and highest quality. Buy a great stock hitting the century mark ($100) like O'Neil's monster win with Syntex 56:05 Good discussion on staying flexible with stock exposure, staying in sync with market (defensive when market is in correction; aggressively long when market follows through), thinking about your target holding period for each stock (trading stock vs trying to hold on for bigger gains)

Yep I sell EVERYTHING sometimes with the intention of buying it back when it bottoms and recovers then it comes straight off the bottom and I have missed it. Now if I am CONVINCED it is gonna GO...I tend to hold for better or worse. Trading and timing is difficult! I only hold what I have researched and have big conviction in. It hurts sometimes.
