It definitely won't be as good as that classic but it may still be entertaining. At least they are not treating it like a Agatha Christie adaptation, I find the latest film adaptations frustrating as they changed too many important things from the book sand so I would have preferred if they had just rewrote it without her named characters so that its not officially associated with her work because they certainly are nothing like them! @@ferretfriend5458

Okay I went in with low expectations but it was honestly pretty good. It's a pretty simple and basic murder mystery, very Agatha Christie inspired clearly. Mischa absolutely killed it and her british accent is really good. Overall, its an easy watch.

Have you watched the same film as me. Her performance was one of the worst leading lady acting in the last few years. Absolutely shocking. Her accent was marginally better than Dick Van dyke. She didn't act, she just delivered the lines with no feelings whatsoever. To be fair to her the supporting cast were equally bad. This film had so much potential to be good, but was a massive letdown. Also, the long shots showing the island, didn't seem to have anywhere for the house to be. It seemed craggy and devoid of any trees, and certainly no house to be seen.
@plume...

Just to let you all know that this film is actually a pretty good murder mystery that is 1 hour and 30 minutes long. And then it absolutely shits the bed at 1 hour and 16 minutes and completely undoes everything. 14 minutes before the end of the movie. It gets utterly ridiculous with future technology out of absolutely nowhere. I was gutted :(

I love murder mysteries and can't get enough of them especially British murder mysteries. The problem here is that this film purports itself to be a British murder mystery, yet it was filmed in Illinois & Michigan with a mostly second-rate American cast. The script is a badly drafted blatant steal from Agatha Christie and the acting strictly amateur. I wanted to like this movie so much and was excited when I found it, what a disappointment.

I don't recommend it at all for people who have watched instense and real mystery/crime movies because this movie's plot is a mess and completely fragmented, its pieces does not add up, and there's a constant feeling of " am I missing something here" as if its scenes were collected from different other works.

I think that this is "And Then There Were None" but with the title (and probably the figurines) updated so that it wouldn't be culturally insensitive. But it looks great and I do love Mischa Barton. If it is a rebranded "And Then There Were None", I wonder if it takes place in the same cinematic universe as Kenneth Branagh's Poirot mysteries. That would be lovely!

This was on Channel 5 (UK) over Christmas, and I enjoyed it, even though it seemed to have been put out without any publicity that I was aware of, so I watched it not knowing what to expect, but hoping it might be what it appeared to be, an Agatha Christie style murder mystery, which it was. It was refreshingly free of the sort of agendas the BBC now seems to automatically add to its adaptations, even though the audience hasn't asked. It wasn't perfect, but I liked the leading lady detective (Mischa Barton, a good actress) being a flower seller who loves Agatha Christie and crime-solving, and also isn't stick thin (shades of Velma from the original Scooby Doo cartoons, perhaps?), and (SPOILER) that the ending hinted at a series of stories in which she could either be a private detective, or do occasional jobs for Scotland Yard, or both of those. The period, sinister mood was excellent, and the house was nicely creepy and shadowy, and it felt a little like a youthful Miss Marple as the central detective, combined with occasional very subtle hints that the characters are "knowing" of the genre they find themselves in, like in the film Murder By Death, but without the humour. The cast was good, if not universally great, and there were some excellent English accents from, presumably, American actors (I recognised the lawyer as being played by an actor who had appeared in US TV series, Castle, for example). The plot was far fetched, but as far as I could tell made sense without glaring loopholes. In one sense, this genre has been spoiled for us by the likes of Knives Out, as I was sure after the murderer was revealed, there was going to be one further twist. But there wasn't! There actually didn't need to be, as that's not necessary. I can see this working as a series of stories, as the main character is very analytical, confident, competent, and has an excellent memory as a detective. I hope there will be more.
