What more can you say - this song is beyond perfection - great separation of the instruments in the recording - the drums crack, the bassline is killer and locked with the drums, the guitars are crystal in the mix and the lead at the break is inspired and that’s an understatement...and then there’s Michael’s vocal. Great lyrics, great melody, great groove - you don’t hear this anymore. This song is truly incredible and grabs you from the start and doesn’t let you up until the fade.

@@col.greasebagmcqueen9933 I would argue that some music also sucked back in the day that's now forgotten. That's why we get the impression that every old music is good... because we just don't remember the bad part. On the other hand, today's music is different. I became open minded and I like some of the recent songs, and like the hits from 10-15 years ago. Sometimes I regret not digging that music when it was recent. It's also considered old. The music from late 2000's and early 2010's is old!? in reality even late 2010's is considered old...

I really miss vintage INXS. Their music was so polished and hook-y that it's easy to miss just how literate and thought-provoking most of their lyrics were. There's really nothing getting significant airplay the past 20 years or so that even comes close to this kind of well-rounded brilliance.

Noel Gallagher at the 1996 Brits... INXS frontman Michael Hutchence presented Oasis the trophy for “Wonderwall”. In his speech, Noel Gallagher said, “Has-been shouldn’t present fucking awards to gonna-be’s.” - referring to INXS’ popularity declining. Those words reportedly “crushed Michael”. Talk about being mega disrespectful, Mr H had looks, talent, the voice and he didn't look like Parker from Thunderbirds or Mr Bean.

The best representation of the 80's period. Come on man. INXS Was and always will be a band of the 80's late 90's and one of the best from that era. They told it how it really was. "The Devil inside " was a song that pushed boundaries at the time . INXS was a semi-pop band then lol, They scared the shit out of religious people back then because it was a common thing to be scared of things that was considered anti-religious at that time. We know better now. Things are not what they used to be.

He is one of many that was suicided. Too many Rock stars were done in because they wanted to tell the truth. They didn't want to lead others into damnation. Kurt No Brains, for example. He didn't blow his brains out. How could he do that and leave no fingerprints on his shotgun? It had no fingerprints on it. You can't wipe your gun clean after you blow your brains out. Hutchence wanted to tell the truth like Chris Cornell and so many others. Most Rock star suicides were actually murders. I just saw evidence that Jim Morrison didn't kill himself. I have no links. So don't ask.

Don Olinger I agree... Morrison saw the love of his life pam courson get trashed by smack, for him to off himself on heroin is hard to swallow especially due to the pending jail sentence waiting for him in Miami. Cobain's murder has enough holes to shake your head at. Hendrix as well. Some people can't be helped I get it but there is too many alternatives these theories that just suggest these highly intelligent, highly influential people off'd themselves for selfish reasons

Every great band needs a "crescendo" song... a song where something builds that makes an audience crazy and excited. This is it for INXS. And man, it still tingles after 33 years with said crescendo at 3:39. Outstanding.

Without googling, I'm pretty sure I remember jamming this in 1987. I say that, because of the scene at 4:31. A lot of y'all won't understand how f'n exciting it was to see a rail slide in a pop culture video back then. I recall my sk8r bros and I getting so stoked by that 1.5 seconds of footage. Granted, I probably got more worked up than the rest, and didn't realize everyone else was as zoomie as me, but that was/is my nature. Good times.

Michael Hutchence had such a Bono/Jim Morrison quality in his voice. I wasn’t a big INXS fan, but being a teen in the 80s made it impossible not to listen to INXS, U2, Springsteen, Guns N’ Roses, Motley Crew, Bon Jovi, Foreigner, The Police, and others. Some music just takes me back to that time, and INXS takes me to back the mid-80s for sure. (Quick note: U2’s “Stuck In the Moment” is a tribute to Michael Hutchence.)
