Been a fan of IONA since the days of old. LOL! I turn 63 Sept.16th. Anointed by and through the Holy Spirit. Makes me want to sail the Irish Coast.

@@the_alchemy_method It's about both. Celtic monks brought Christianity from Ireland to Scotland. The music of Iona explores both those rich traditions. I'm from Scotland and have visited the island of Iona, and I got to visit Murlough Bay in Ireland recently too.

Mirtika; That is a good way to describe their music, full of wonder and beauty. I listen to alot of music but my ultimate favorite is IONA. Ionas music and lyrics inspire me and move my Spirit and it's annointing by the Holy Spirit pours its oil upon me. I listen to them more than any other style and type of music and in my opinion the best.

I first heard Iona from a CD I found in a used music shop. "The Book of Kells". This was back in 1993. 31 years ago. I was hooked after that and found four other CDs. Rare to find here in the Southeastern USA. BTW, I played TBOK today on YT Music. Never gets old! Iona's music was instrumental in me converting to the Orthodox Church.

I like Iona's music but I've always hated the ecumenical 'spirit' that seems a part of the band's ethos. They're playing in a RC Church here surrounded by images in the windows. It may evoke a 'spiritual' atmosphere but it isn't necessarily a Holy Spirit atmosphere.
@timcul2 жыл бұрын
Actually it wasn't a RC Church, it was St Patrick's Church of Ireland
@hezkyden2 жыл бұрын
@@timcul OK, thanks for the correction. However, my comment about ''ecumenical 'spirit' and 'surrounded by images in the windows' stands. Plus, the Church of Ireland ''self-identifies as being both Reformed and Catholic, in that it sees itself as the inheritor of a continuous tradition going back to the founding of Christianity in Ireland''
