Fun fact: A’PEXi use to make turbos and manifolds, and pretty much full kits for the FD3S, and although we couldn’t see everything in detail, it’s safe to say that’s all original A’PEXI stuff on that car

I had apexi rx6 turbine on one of my FDs and it was so quick to spool! Made 379 at 1 bar, pulled like a bike ha!! Also I have that controller in a mkii jzx100 ha!

Just adding those tangible parts like turbo timers, and other bits & bobs really satisfies an urge when putting a car together. Every decade had its unique take on cars, and it really does feel like the 90's/Y2K was the end of that. I think that's one of the many reasons why these cars are sought after nowadays. Really cool to see some of the inner workings of A'PEXi US, but also a bit bittersweet. Some of the rooms in that shop had the vibe someone had walked out in 2009, shut off the lights and hadn't been back since. Makes you yearn for what once was, a different time from how it is now. Great video.

You’re actually right. We filled for chapter 13 after the 2008 crash. Apex had to reorg and they were down to a skeleton crew. We saw it happening but still sad. Glad to see the old legend still running strong.

@@mistalee19 After all that, it's amazing to see the brand survived. I think once the innovation picks back up, A'PEXi has a very good chance to come back stronger than they left back in the day. Hopefully we see some turbos, wastegates, and intercoolers return.

There are a surprising number of RX7 owners still using the A'pexi Power FC. Even though there are better standalone ECU options today, the PowerFC did a lot of things well when it was new and became really popular in the US 10-15 years ago. Most rotary tuners in the US can still support it today, even though most piston-engine tuners have moved on to other ECU brands.

It is an old ECU and it does not have all the features of the most current ECU's, but in its time, it changed the rotary scene like no one else had before. Though its limited, if you're looking for an easy plug and play solution, the Power FC is still the best in my opinion as far as simplicity goes.

I was not a huge fan of the PowerFC until I started playing with the pro software. It’s quite simple in a good way

Sic car, I've owned and raced over 20 rotary's in the late 70-80's RX2/RX3/RX3sp/RX4/RX7. I'd like to invite you to the ARA Rally Colorado July 22-23 and give you a first hand rally experience. You won't be racing but I'll show you every aspect, introduce you to the top teams and you can even launch cars at the stage starts if you like. A good SIM buddy (xxxdasxxx) will be there too.
