My mother had a clock that played this waltz. My father bought it for her in Germany, while serving with the U.S. Army during World War II. This brings back such memories. 😢

how beautiful my father could play a lot of songs on different instruments. I was rather lazy. But that was the most memorable song I could play on the piano. My father's favorite song on the piano was Nocturne. Unfortunately he is no longer alive but your comment still reminds me of the time when he was alive, how wonderful

If it's any help, I'll try to describe it. It was one of those Rococco-style clocks. The case was a deep maroon color, with touches of gold paint. It was really beautiful, and made to last- Mother used it until it stopped working, shortly before she passed, in 1997. Shades of "My Grandfather's Clock."

a study of the registers of the Greek-Orthodox Church of St. Ilie in the Fabric neighborhood located in the National Archives of Timiș found the birth record, respectively the date, baptismal name, family name and parents' first names. This fact accurately certifies these data and establishes that although the name has Serbian resonances, he was not baptized in a Serbian Orthodox church, but in a Romanian Orthodox one. In the birth registration, the first name Iosif, by which Ivanovich is widely known, does not appear In this context, the first name Iosif should be considered a stage name.@@Jellisaveta

"Waves of the Danube" (Romanian: Valurile Dunării; German: Donauwellen; French: Flots du Danube; Russian: Дунайские Волны) is a waltz composed by Iosif Ivanovici (1845--1902) in 1880, and is one of the most famous Romanian tunes in the world. In the United States, it is frequently referred to as "The Anniversary Song", a title given by Al Jolson when he and Saul Chaplin released an adaptation of the song in 1946. "Waves of the Danube" was first published in Bucharest, 1880. It was dedicated to Emma Gebauer, the wife of music publisher Constantin Gebauer.
