IOWA DRIFTLESS REGION: THIS PIT STOP WAS PERFECT!! (Fly fishing Bankston Creek, Dubuque Iowa)

Another cheeky pit stop on my long road trip home! I love finding all the possible trout streams that cross my long trodden path. Some are good and worth the stop and others are great and deserve a second look! Bankston is one of the greats in my opinion and it has become a habit! Nestled just outside of Dubuque it is a true gem! The browns always seem to be biting and my buddy lives right up the road, so it's hard not to stop for a visit! I let him know when I was set to land in the parking lot and we linked up! Being so close he is so dialed in to the fish in this stretch and he can absolutely put the hammer down! We did more talking than fishing and still somehow managed to catch quite a few little beauties. I do enjoy these sort of fishing adventures every now and then. Low pressure and more for the social aspect of things. Summer is closing in around us so fast.. Gotta get out and enjoy these days while you still can!

The double strike on the hopper and then into the tree! I've never had that happen. I certainly have had the single strike and then the tree. What a great looking little stream.

Crazy watching your videos and seeing how common spring creeks are up there! You make em look easy to fish!!! So hard to fish them limestoners here in pa, but it’s always a fun challenge. Never tried hopper dropper before but man after watching this I may have to try it 😂💯
