And the old adage of "it's the quiet ones you need to watch" is very true, the guy who is making the most noise is always the one who is terrified, my old man's way of putting it was "the empty can rattles the loudest" its the lad who sits at the back of the room quietly sipping his pint and watching everything, waiting for his chance who is the real danger. I worked as a bouncer for 6 years and can tell you these old sayings have a lot of meaning, I have witnessed both in effect multiple times...but Ireland is full of these old proverbs lol.

And that's because they wish to prove their martial arts are superior, and by extension they are superior... because that's where nationalism takes you to. And patriotism or nationalism are the flipsides of the same coin - taking pride from happenstance of birth, elevating flags and hymns over living, breathing people. It's good for people who have no achievements or skills to be proud of and all that's left is to be prout of being white, or being raised in certain religion or nationality... thing you do not really earn. There are better things to love than lines on the map and colors on cloth.

Yeah, fighting became more and more unreasonable as the series went forward. They completely went overboard. The first part of the first movie is a bit goofy and looks like a classic "I challange you!" kung-fu movie but this second part with the Japanese invaders is deep and fighting here really had its meaning and reason behind it. The second movie had its moments (although it was a blatant Rocky 2-3-4 copy) and the coreo in the 3rd movie was astonishing. But the 4th was shallow, even Donnie Yen looked bored of it and it is a shame that Adkins' talent was wasted on that movie. One dimensional, boring, predictable.
