Almost all reviewers show that first generation pencil sticking out of the iPad lightning port . In the box , containing the pencil, is a small lightning-to-lightning connector , which will allow the pencil to be charged using a standard lightning-usb charging cable and charger, while the iPad is being used for something else, or overnight, perhaps. I've never had my pencil sticking out of the iPad.

Just got this for my daughter's 11th birthday , there was a kid in the store similar age to my daughter screaming at his grandmother for daring to buy him the cheap iPad he wanted the pro with new pencil and sat down on the floor . Even my daughter was horrified , she quietly slipped her hand into mine and said mummy I'm really really grateful and I know this is my Christmas present too I was so proud and she's loving it.

He's right. Now that it has 64GB and a much improved selfie-cam with Center Stage it is by far the best value in a new iPad. It's all the iPad almost anyone really needs realistically, other than people making money with one. And forget the Air 4 as a step-up model. There are far better options with non-new and refurb Pro versions at about the same or lower price than Air 4.

@@eddieortiz873 I would say only get the extra storage space if you need it. I have a cloud storage system for my company, and just move everything to it. 64gb is plenty for me. But i use small word and excel documents, as well as storing pictures of physical documents.

I can afford an I pad 9 gen with the apple pencil, a logitech Bluetooth keyboard & mouse & cover within 500 USD. I will use it as my portable laptop. On the other hand if I buy the apple refurbished 2020 2nd Gen 11 inch Ipad pro, it alone will cost 650 USD. I would have to wait another 4-5 months at least to buy the accessories. I just bought a new 9th generation IPad for $229 off Amazon. Was not spending $500 for a better configured IPad with 256G of hard drive and cellular capability. I have been using my 1918 era 9.7” IPad for five years but its battery was failing and I was not paying a fortune to get a new one installed on a five year old machine. I figured it would meet my needs for a few years and at age 78 there are no guaranties, for me or an IPad.😊

I bought one last weekend and it was a good decision. If I would’ve bought the pro I would’ve spent over 1000 bucks or over 700 for the air. And there just wasn’t enough new technology there to make it exciting enough to do that. I gave my seventh generation iPad to my five-year-old grandson, I already have an Apple Pencil and I bought the upgraded memory to hold my music collection. If I would’ve bought the air or the pro I would had to buy a new pencil and upgrade the memory, and that’s fine if there’s enough technology in the pro to interest me. This iPad will be just fine for my use. When a Pro comes out that’s that is of value to me, then I’ll make the move.

The budget iPad is great for anyone who needs it as a work tool. Many of the features of the pro and air are superfluous to most end users, hence why those devices get colorful exteriors and other trappings that won’t affect the experience of using the device for simple tasks

Not laminated is actually good because if the screen breaks or shatters, the outside glass can be replaced without much cost. So it's a positive or plus.

It is a nice upgrade to the standard ipad from last year, but to be honest, my daily driver is an ipad 7th generation and it runs smoothly, does everything i need it to and still works like a charm. but i have to admit, i would LIKE to have the newer look and stuff, but how much ipad do you really need is the right question to ask here. great video!

I both this iPad as a very first time user, great price for what you get, I added up the apple pen and a keyboard(without trackpad), adding up 500 total, but if you can deal with not having the original apple pen(you can get an alternative pencil for $30 and works just the same) and not having a trackpad, you basically will spend 435 and you will have a complete product. 💯

This iPad is more than enough for 90% of iPad users tbh. I have it for studying and creative writing/drawing. For extra compute power, I just got a PC and BOTH this iPad and the laptop combined were cheaper than the iPad Pro.

Good honest review. I did not care for the iPad Air 4 with the finger print reader on the volume button. 64 GB of storage is the same as my iPad Air 2 and more than adequate for me. I am still very happy with my iPad Air 2 but just wanted something newer. I didn’t see the reason to buy a new iPad Pro just for KZbin content and light web browsing on Safari. I also prefer the fingerprint reader over Face ID.

@@wholetthedogsout8097 I use a matte screen protector with a off brand Apple Pencil and it just feels like paper I don’t notice any noise and it helps with glare , I don’t think the noise would be bad or barely even noticeable but I imagine the glass would make the stylus harder to move across the screen

I was looking today at the m1 pro 11" for an upgrade from my Air 2 (which I love and would stay with if updates weren't ending soon) but maybe I need to reconsider as I don't want to replace my iMac when it's done and just use an iPad as my only computer. It seems crazy that in the UK some retailers are selling the 8th generation iPad 32GB for £299 but you can buy the 9th gen 64GB version for £20 more seems like a no brainer even if you don't take into account the newer processor or new center stage camera. You're quite right about the rear facing camera, at best I might use it to show somone something if I'm on a Facetime call but you don't really need a top quality camera on a tablet. I do laugh when I see somone taking a photo outdoors or at a museum using a tablet 😂

Great video explaining everything I wanted to know. I just bought one half an hour ago on sale (the 10.2” iPad 2021) force $299 at Walmart’s website and the compatible 1st gen pencil for $89 and a $40 lit-up keyboard case, all for $420 with discounts and taxes as a birthday gift to my daughter in a couple of weeks. Hopefully it hets here in time. She will be using it for drawing and basic stuff like watching KZbin and the internet. I just hope the 64 GB space is enough.

Great video! Some people say that keeping the lightning cable is a negative. Here’s the thing. If your coming from an older iPad that uses lightning cable for charging everything, this is perfect. This way, I don’t have to buy any new accessories when I get an iPad (which would jack up the price even more). People who get the standard iPad do so to save money. So it would make sense to keep the lightning cable so new accessories don’t have to be bought. I have the Bluetooth magic keyboard, Magic Mouse, original AirPods, original Apple Pencil, and iPhone 6s. It’s nice to have one lightning cable that can charge literally EVERYTHING I have. I hope they don’t get rid of the lightning cable for the standard iPad model for a long time.

I don’t want to go out and buy new chargers, pencil, keyboard. When you add the prices of all of the accessories to the cost of the Pro you may as well buy a MacBook. @@tambij Absolutely! The fingerprint sensor is awesome and I feel is easier to use because the facial recognition can be a pain trying to adjust the face for it to recognize. And 256gb is amazing space for the iPad. I have only 64gb of space on mine and I’ve had it for over 3 years and still have over 20gb of free space.. and I use it professionally for my job with office software on it, and also for gaming, school, and a whole host of things. So 256 is PLENTY! Great points you made! Love it!

Perfect. My friend went to another friend's house once and brought her iPad Air 4th gen. For some reason she decided to not bring a charger and it just so happens that I told her I had a working USB C cable in my house that was about 5 minutes walk away so I dashed there, and as the cable was USB C to USB A, I also brought along a 12W adapter. Tried it, it worked. My mum thought all iPads used lightning.

The problem I had with the iPad Pro was it was so expensive I treated it like it was a really expensive laptop with the magic keyboard but at the end of the day it was an iPad so I sold it and got a 9th gen and I use it so much more and enjoy using it more as I treat this tablet as an iPad should be used, pick up and go. The MacBook Air is 100 times better than the iPad Pro if you want a laptop experience.

Honestly, I am a Samsung Knight, but this iPad 9 is truly a magnificent product, it offers so much for its price. Casually it is more powerful than the Tab S7 from Samsung, and is almost as capable as an iPad Air 4 or an iPad Pro. Its only '' flaw '' is that it does not have a 128G option and USB-C port. It is today what the Tab S7 will be in 6-7 months when its price is around $300.

I have an iPad Gen 8 and it has been a great experience… my first… I do have the keyboard and mouse to go with it. I still like the thick bezel areas.. you can grab it and not have it try and change what you are playing, reading, watching…. ..

Yeah, Apple delivered a solid device at a solid price…. I’m still using the 6th Gen as my main computer, and it still has some space left, and it’s fine, but a little slow. The new IPad delivers almost everything anyone would need.

If a person is on a tight budget cosmetic appearance doesn’t really matter. The iPad 9 has the same display as the iPad 8. The bump up to 64g just made a perfect low end tablet for a much less money. And don’t forget the Bionic A13 chip. I am very content with my iPad 8.

Yes, keep your iPad 8. I think it’s only worth upgrading if you have iPad from 3-5th gen. From 6 till now keep your iPad unless it’s not working or the glass of your screen broke ( happened to my iPad 6 ) and i had to change it for iPad 9 but was working fine . Tech right now in general is quite expensive so if your current cellphone, tablet or computer is working don’t change it till it dies. Sorry if I don’t promote changing it every two years.

My friend got my an Apple Pencil for Christmas. Just ordered this iPad to use with it. Gonna enjoy working on math and art on it. My grand daughter who is two, will have fun learning to writing her letters as well. Can’t wait!

People in the replies don't realize that it's meant to be a basic iPad, which means that it wouldn't get such things as mentioned above, unless they'd do it in 10 years, because knowing Apple, they'd rather sell you an iPad Pro with bells and whistles, so why would they bother selling something cheap with 10.5 inch screen, laminated display and type-C usb? It would probably cost slightly more, but once again, knowing Apple - 200 dollars more I guess

Got mine 256gb ram for 433...warranty and apple pen obviously bumped that up. I use mine solely for digital art and I'm beyond in love with it. Best investment I've ever made.

Hey. I’m still using my 8yr old iPad Air 1, so for me this would be big upgrade in terms of screen, memory, storage, processor and front facing camera, plus I still have my Lighting accessories. And for my use, which is consuming web content, it’s probably the most sensible option, but maybe the 256GB version?

Thank You for this video!! I was going to spend $1,099.00 for iPad Pro. But when I found out that I also would need to buy new charger, pencil, and ear pods on top of the high price I have decided to go with the apple 9th generation. I love the fingerprint button also I don’t like to charge EarPods I would rather have the headphone port. I can keep all the same charging cables I already have. My iPad Mini 5 broke when it slipped off my desk. I didn't want to dish out $500 for a Mini 6, so I replaced it with the 9th gen iPad instead (and a small Fire tablet for media comsumption role). So far I have been very impressed. I don't miss the laminated screen, the larger screen works better with shiftscreen, and the keyboard case I got for it is much easier to use than the smaller one I had for the Mini. I love the earphone jack and the touch button at the bottom. I even like the thick bezels because they give me something to hold onto more securely. It is still a current model 2 years later. But it looks like this might be the last budget iPad, as the new iPad gen 10 is something else all together.

This is a great video. Prior to replacing my old IPad Air, I conducted quite a bit of online research that led me to the 9th gen IPad. So, in order to validate my selection, I visited a local big box store to sample the Apple lineup of IPads. I found that only the 12.9 IPad Pro exhibited sufficient brightness levels and screen size, fitting that which I didn’t previously realize were my own personal vision preferences. Additionally, I added the Apple 2nd gen pencil, even though never having used one. All I can say is that this product, up close, really exceeded my expectations. Cry once, $, well spent.

With the 10th generation iPad being released I went ahead and picked up the 9th gen for $279 on Amazon! $308 total with taxes. No regrets :) I’m really just using it as an e-reader and for content consumption

I use my iPad for content consumption like KZbin/Netflix and use headphones a lot. I do have air pods and AirPods Pro but I also have ear pods scattered everywhere I might need them. So still having the lightning port is a huge bonus to still be able to use my ear pods and same charging cable as my iPhone was very important and deciding factor for me.

I go back and forth between apple stuff. I now have the latest 14 Pro and the M1 MBA and I got the MBA after trading in my iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard (expensive waste of money IMHO). I tried the Android Tab A8…nice but slow and screen is not nearly as good as this basic iPad. Yes, as soon as I got this…impressed. I paired it with the Logitech K480 which is $78 here and it is great. Keyboard works well. I’m not getting sucked into this laptop replacement BS though. If you want a computer to do everything get the M1 or M2 MBA

After debating and wanting to upgrade from my surface pro 7 i decided to go with the 10.2 ipad logifold and apple pencil bundle and it was still cheaper than upgrading to a surface pro 8 or 9. For the whole bundle it was $570 which is half the price so i will take it

I was told by that is a computer genius!! that every time your apple computer, iPad, iPhone says you need to do a systems update that it actually takes away some of your memory/GB/Ram. And if you think about it it would be a smart move for apple. That would mean that every 2 - 3 years you would need to either pay apple for more storage every month or take you apple products into their store to install more memory or upgrade. I remember my first Mac Book thick heavy it’s white, it has a disc drive one of the last models that had them and that baby still runs like a champ!! Apple made such a great computer 15 years ago that you didn’t need to replace it. I have taken mine into the apple store twice to upgrade & add memory and that is it. Everything works great. I have over 4,000 pictures saved. Pay bills on it every month basically everything that you need is on that computer and I’m so Happy that I never traded it in. Because I think about all the money I have saved. But every 2 years my iPhone gets slower & has a camera problem or backlight goes out etc…..etc. so I don’t always update when it tells me too, I think apple makes really great products and I love them & will only buy apple. But it does make sense if this theory is true & I 100% believe it is. But if they want to make money they can’t have computers, & phones that last forever ( or even 15 years ).

i had this ipad for 4 days thur-sun (tgfoday) i had to take it back bc the back light went out on me. all of my pictures looked like xrays. i couldnt even trade it out... they were out of stock. i got the special 299 price but not now. back up to 329 when it comes back in stock. im out 30 bc when i get my replacement bc the ipad gave out.
