Great job as always. I see you prefer the clear flux compared to the AMTECH you reviewed a while ago. I found the milky colour takes a while to get use to as you need to heat it up first so you can see where you want to rework.

Was fooling around with a Casio PNM-500 motherboard recently. Splattered solder on the display pads and had to get it off again with old tech around in my home. I need the module for testing something with a tiny LED in the near future and it worried me when a pad lifted. The module worked anyhow and I wonder what glue I can use for a little connection pad?

Its fascinating to see how you get the solder to separate not sure why I can’t do that. Might be because I use a cheap soldering iron but any tips would be appreciated.

I don't understand why so much heat is needed for low melt solder? You said you used 370 C from the hot air gun. That's almost 700F. You would think 350 to 400F would be hot enough. Can someone please explain.
@GO-lo4tv3 жыл бұрын
Thermal mass, some of that heat is going to get soaked up by the board itself, so would take a lot longer trying to use 350 - 400f to reach the melting temp of low melt.
