Just a quick tip: if you want to be able to split screen with another app not on your dock, you gotta keep the "show recents" option on. Right now the only way of split screening (at least up until the 2018 pro as far as I know) is by dragging from the dock! :) I ran into this issue because I used to also be annoyed by the recents on the dock but had to deal with it for split screen. :/
