I have been looking for this review from photographer's perspective for almost a month. Gladly found your content. I bought my studio set godox probes along with my DSLR Camera and lenses a month ago and planning to buy also with this newly released Ipad mini 6 for my Nikon D5600 camera, I usually used my mobile android phone for photo editing right after shoot and transferring it via Snapbridge app by Nikon and export it to my laptop but it takes seriously difficult. I wanna take one more step for upgrade like getting this Ipad Mini 6 with apple pencil 2 gen. I just wonder how worth it is to upgrade but after watching your review, I am more confident to get one. For adobe photoshop, I never wanted to use it because of my limited resources, it requires high specs. and seeing the lag from your review makes me think not to use it more. haha! I rather use Snapseed apps for photo editing aside from Lightroom both will also works smoothly as it works well in android smartphones too. Anyway, thanks for sharing. I look forward for more helpful content like this and helps aspiring photographer out there. You got another subscriber!

Thanks for this video, exactly what I was looking for. I love the easy workflow of camera (SD card)-iphone - LR and export for IG that I have at the moment. I‘ve been looking into the iPad Mini 6 as it makes sense to have a bigger screen available when on the move.

I now have an iPad mini 6 256g/cellular! Initially I had ordered starlight and went to pick it up launch day. Having owned 2 iPad Pros in a row, I had some trepidations. When I got to the store I had misgivings and switched to the iPad 9. I kept it 13 days. It disappointed me mostly with a slower speed than I was accustomed too. By day 13, the mini 6 was a 4-6 week order. I am fortunate to live in a city with multiple apple stores so I was checking inventory 5 times/day. Well I got my mini 6 and have not looked back. I should thank the apple clerk at the Green Hills/Nashville store for helping me to find peace with my purchase. I simply decided if the mini screen was too small, I would just buy a basic 9 during the black friday sales to augment my iPad mini. I have come to love my purple, 256g/cell mini 6. If someone is hesitating, I would say...just take the plunge.

I was too curious the experience of editing on mini vs. 11inch pro - would be great to hear your thoughts on it as well
@ChrisPieta3 жыл бұрын
The m1 chip will definitely be faster than the mini. If speed is important then the Pro is the way to go. If portability and ergonomics are more important, then the mini will be great. That being said, I haven't used the m1 chip iPad, but I have used older 11 inch iPad pros.

I’ve been looking for something like this. I subscribed just for this video. Thank you so much bro👍🏼… just getting started and I want a mini to carry around a small portable workspace at least until I get home. I don’t expect miracles from the Mini but everything you showed is perfect for what I’m looking for within the size and weight.

After seeing the lag you experienced in Photoshop, I wonder how Affinity Photo compares to Adobe Photoshop on the Mini. Any insights or experiences you can share?
@ChrisPieta3 жыл бұрын
I personally don’t use it, but I’d imagine pretty similar with those size files. Photos from my A7r4 tend to lag because they’re 100+ mb, my a73 produces 40mb or so files and those wouldn’t be as laggy. That being said, the iPad mini is surprisingly close to my 16” MacBook Pro in speed…. If you need a faster iPad, the M1 iPad pros will be the real deal. All this being said, the speed I’m getting from a $500 tablet is insane. It can definitely lower the barrier to entry for people

Love the way you speak 🤗. But what about your workflow details, like getting the images to iPad mini from your camera, filing and storing images, or how you write lots of notes on the tiny iPad.
@ChrisPieta3 жыл бұрын
Hi thank you! I have a super in-depth video on how I manage more of my workflow. iPad specifically, I will send photos through iCloud and edit on the iPad. These are mainly just photos I post on Instagram or social media. My client work I only see myself doing through my laptop. Writing notes is a tough one on something this small, but I did hook up my wireless keyboard to it. It was a pleasure to use on a flight!

Nice video Chris, the first of your’s that I’ve seen. I’m leaving for Scotland this Friday (7/22/22) with a very light Fuji kit, maybe three lenses. I’m not taking my iPad Pro (‘20?). It’s just too heavy for what is primarily a family trip. The Mini seems to be a good choice, but I’m a little hesitant because of the A13 chip? I just want to do some quick edits while I travel and post some to social media. Thoughts? Can I also use the Monitor + with my phone as a external monitor when doing landscapes?? Thanks.
@ChrisPieta2 жыл бұрын
Hey there, the mini sounds like a good choice for this trip. Honestly you can probably get away with just using your phone for edits and monitor+. The mini could be nice for some entertainment on the trip too. The mini would be nice to have but not necessary.

Does SONY not have a native monitor app? Do you have to plug in cables or is it wireless? And does it work 100% of the time or is the app buggy? What about Canon cameras?
@ChrisPieta2 жыл бұрын
The sony native app sucks in my opinion, but it's an option. It's wireless. The monitor app works great, sometimes it gets buggy and I have to restart the app, but it's a fine tradeoff. I don't know of any canon app.

Thank you for this review from a photographers point!,, i really want one as its size should be great in the field on photoshoots rather than my laptop for quick edits and sending photos. I just want to ask is the 64GB version you got enough for going throug photoshop and lightroom edits. Of course I won’t use the Ipad mini for storage but I am worried the actual photography apps use alot of space and that 64gb isn’t enough. Did you use up your storage with the apps? Thanks for your time

hi Chris.. i want to buy a "mini" after watching your video and i know you are using monitor+ app and sony a7riv camera. Are you able to connect using usb c cable (for automatic RAW import like tethering). It's a feature I really need right now.

@Chris Pieta thanks.. I saw C1 publish a special app for the ipad, and it seems to have tethering feature via usb cable. maybe you can test it for us? I think it will be very useful for people who have to shoot outdoors using the tethering method but on the other hand want to still have the flexibility and practicality of the iPad mini screen size. Wish you more success in the future.

I've been thinking about exactly the same thing, want to be able to use the mini as an external monitor for my canon R6. Apart from the wireless canon app, which lags behind a few frames, I'm still looking for other connection options as I really need real time monitoring without lag. Does that app you used only work with Sony cameras and does it lag?
@ChrisPieta3 жыл бұрын
I checked the App Store and it looks like it only supports Sony cameras at this time. I would think three are other apps in there that work with canon though. As far as lag… it did lag at first, but I changed the wireless from 2.4 ghz to 5 on my camera and all the lag went away. Try doing that with the r6 and see if it helps!
