Thanks for the video. This was clear and concise. I used a Dyson hair dryer to apply heat around the edges of the ipad to soften the glue and the usual phone battery changing tools to separate screen and back . The whole process was straightforward thanks to your video guide.

Thanks! I used my Mothers old medical heat pad. Maybe it was a bit under 70 deg, but it softened the adhesive enough to carefully do the job. I also used plastic paint scraper, which I sharpened a bit on the concrete outside, to scoop the battery out.

Followed this video and ended up using hair dryer instead bc didn’t have the heating pad. By far the hardest part was getting the screen off and I ended up watching another video that said to use a razor blade as a starting point. Unfortunately, this did leave some minor traces at the point where you pray things open but I now have a functional iPad, without a completely dead battery. The other part that was very difficult was getting the battery off and that definitely needed a lot of elbow grease. Otherwise it all worked out!

Hi. What kind of adhesive did you use on the back of battery?
@DIYGeardo3 жыл бұрын
You can use battery adhesive.. if not double sided tape strips..few pieces will be enough..
@matthewgaige31333 жыл бұрын
Thank you for showing. I could not understand what you said about how to adhere the screen at the end. Do I need a adhesive kit?
@DIYGeardo3 жыл бұрын
Sorry about that, Well you need to apply adhesive to the screen, you can use b7000 . Pre cut double-sided ipad mini adhesive or Regular double sided adhesive stripes. Personally i prefer b7000.

Double sided tape

is it impossible to open this device without using heat mat or blow dryer? I'm planning to do this on my own. Since I have a bit of experience in replacing a battery of my mac and repairing my old iphone. But I do not have something like the heat pad or blower. Thank you for your help and for sharing this video!
@DIYGeardo3 жыл бұрын
Possible, but it will be very hard. You need to use a pry tool to cut the adhesive. Process may take long, but i will not recommend. You can use a hair dryer
@DIYGeardo3 жыл бұрын
One more thing, DO not remove the screen without heating. You will end up with breaking the screen. You MUST apply heat to remove it. Unless the screen is already broke
@jjjjjjjjjjjinnnn23233 жыл бұрын
@@DIYGeardo I understand. Thank you so much for your reply. I will take note of this in the future. I’ll probably just borrow a hair blower and also research more about this repair. ☺️

I just put a new battery in my iPad 4. But now, the screen is garbled and about a third of it looks like I spilled black ink on it. Can you enlighten me as to what happened and how I can fix it?

I agree, these folks are quite technically competent, but the english annunciation leaves a lot to be desired. May I suggest running the directions through AI and using that track for the audio.
