I wouldn’t worry too much about the downclocking. It was probably done to maintain performance for longer times with low temps and no throttling. I would bet dollars to donuts that with throttling factored in, the mini performs better for longer than the iPhones 13 pro.

I sold my 11" 2021 ipad Pro for £500 2 month after I bought it, being so big it hurt my arthritic hands, so I found that put me off using it. iPad Mini for me, all the way! The Air tempted me a teeny-tiny bit last year, but only that much. I never have been a fan of compromise devices that can do so-so jobs at many things. I prefer something that fits perfectly into whatever niche. If I want a larger iPad that can be used to do laptop-like activities, I'll probably get a Pro. The Mini is fantastic! It's the ultimate portable notepad for work. It's great for casual video-watching. It's a perfect little sketchpad, and actually I'm able to do a surprising amount of Procreate drawing and painting despite its tiny size. The other day, I took my Mini to the library for some research. Its small size was great for annotating books I found. Take a picture of the page, mark it up. If I want, I can type some notes underneath the photo. It couldn't have been more smooth. I wish I'd had a tool like this when I was in college and grad school! Some day, I might want to shell out for a Pro. Even then, my Mini will have an important place among my tech devices. On the other hand, if I'd bought an Air and then later bought a Pro, the Air would basically be a brick. So for me, given my particular needs and my passion for perfection, the Mini is infinitely more useful than the Air.

The biggest thing about no headphone jack is that for musicians like me, the latency with bluetooth audio is just too much to get anything done. I think it won't be a problem for most people, still annoying that I have to get a dongle for this though

Great insights, as expected. I’m shifting over from 2018 iPad Pro 11 as I found that one bent in my backpack when travelling- thankfully I had applecare. Hoping this one will endure travel better. BTW, Bluetooth sound is “lossy” and lousy. Using the dongle with wired headphones will give you CD quality. Even better with a portable DAC like a Fiio, will give you Hi-Res Lossless that Apple Music offers - a big reason why I have shifted across from Spotify.

Looking forward to losing the Touch ID (which I never liked), and gaining USB-C, plus whatever else Apple decides to 'give' us. The huge variety of productivity uses for the Mini demonstrates how versatile it can be. A Master of Non - but Good at a lot of stuff - which is find by me!!! I bought an iPad Mini Cellular 9 years ago. I do not browse with it - I'm an adult -so I use my 14" laptop to browse and an Apple TV for viewing. After 9 years of ownership, I use my Mini almost exclusively when I "TRAVEL" - to do the following - otherwise it sits in a drawer. #1- as a GPS unit in my vehicles - the best GPS ever (70%) #2 - as a Sidecar or mirror screen to view video paired with a M2 MBA (25%) #3 - as an eReader (4%) #4 - the odd miscellaneous task (1%) Since it is on its last leg (but not dead) - I will likely buy the new Mini 7 when it comes out later this year. I would never buy a bigger iPad as the Mini is simply a great portable complimentary device.

I have just bought an ipad mini 6 (was previously using a mini 4) for playing music in my exercise classes. Always have preferred a separate device to my phone in case need phone for filming, messages before class etc. My Yamaha Stagepas system with stereo speakers is a great quality and always been loud but it's not got bluetooth connection, so I use a wire, stereo ended jacks to a single jack (fo rmy old ipad) but of course now have the adaptor for the usb c port on the ipad mini6. Today when using new ipad in my class, the sound was definitely quieter than the old ipad mini. i have EQ setting on 'small speakers' as before, If there anything I can do to increases volume without turning my volume & master volume on the amp to dangerously high levels?
