I'm sorry but what do you mean by getting the 5g version of the mini 6? Getting only wifi on the mini 6 you don't have 5g? So we still get 4g instead but with wifi + cellular you get 5g?

Ordered. No 5g. I am planning on tethering to my iphone when i need to. I bought a power bank to go with the ipad mini 6/iphone combo that will address any power drain concerns and since i'm never going to actually carry the ipad in a pocket, i'll have a small carrier with me when i have the ipad, making taking the power bank a no brainer.

Thank goodness I am not the only one that thinks buying a cellular iPad is worth it. I cannot stand using personal hotspot from my phone. Many people will just tell you to use your hotspot, but they forget that the biggest disadvantage is battery drain. Also, using hotspot from your phone counts towards your data allowance.

Hey Mike, thanks for a very thoughtful review on the 5G. I got the iPad mini six. And I am happy with it, I didn’t think about getting 5G I went to Wi-Fi only. Now I’m just having second thoughts. I thought that your thought processes were very good and helpful. I’m gonna keep my eyes open to see if there’s anything on sale before the holidays, and maybe get one and 5G. On the other hand this time next year they’ll have the mini seven with the jelly issue resolved because they would’ve put the hertz up.? Decisions decisions

If you're already into the latest generation, I don't think it's worthwhile to trade up unless you can 1) measure the benefit of going 5G and 2) quickly and easily offload your current device.

i'm a roller coaster youtuber. i leased the wifi only mini for a week when it first came out to more or less play around with it and decided i liked it, but returned it and decided i would rebuy when my financial situation was better. today i but the bullet and added the cellular mini to my plan. this device is gonna be killer for editing in lumafusion when i'm out and about on coaster road trips and need to upload in a clinch.

I feel like if you’re someone who needs 5G on their iPad, you already know you need it. If you’re not sure, tethering will probably serve you perfectly fine.

This video! You made some very strong points! I ended up selling my iPad mini 6 Wi-Fi only to get the cellular model instead. I don’t egret it one bit! I love having the flexibility of using my iPad when I’m out and about without having to worry about tethering to my phone.

I think the camera angle was a little too far from the center and I changed it in the most recent video. Here's a little inside baseball for you: A second angle makes it *much* easier to edit as opposed to pushing in for a close-up.

I've been thinking of getting an ipad mini 6 and actually wanted to get the cellular version. Upon checking here in the Philippines, most are out of stock already and I'm seriously considering just getting the wifi version that's why I started to browse around youtube to help me with my decision. I agree with the perks of having the cellular version, but I'm also looking at another option.. instead of tethering from my phone, I can also just buy portable wifi which I can bring with me if or when I go out.. I rarely go out now because of the pandemic and so it seems impractical for now to get the cellular version. Maybe if circumstances change I'll get it. But for now my cheaper option is to get a portable wifi gadget so I can connect there instead of public wifi. :)

Hi marc AT&T offer a separate ipad plan for ipad. Its $20 a month for unlimited data. However, its only for post paid plan and sometimes very difficult to find a sales rep that knows about it and are willing to do it.

Got a T Mob stand alone data line for $10 usd a month and that prompted me to get a iPad mini 6 5G on sale $100 usd off. Am impressed so far coming from a mini 4 lte except when the T mob data line goes down which happens to often. That’s when I use my Visible $25 usd month as a hot spot. Sacrifice speed but more dependable. Looking forward to iPad 10 5G.

I think the use case for cellular with a larger iPad is not as compelling, especially an iPad Pro, since you are less likely to take a $1200 11" tablet the same places you would take a $650 8" tablet.

Wait for the iPad mini 7 as long as you reasonably can, and yes, the iPad mini 6 has 5G support for low-band. The only iPad that supports 5G narrowband is the iPad Pro.

Question…. What if I turn on the Cellular on iPad Mini with my current iPhone carrier, are they going to charge me an activation fee?? Because what if I only want to activate for a few months or so and then decide to turn it back off and then later want to turn back on. Will I be charged an activation fee each and every time?

That’s up to your carrier and the pricing plan you’re on. I would think yes, but sometimes the fee is waived

I bought the iPad mini 6, I don't understand why the is a SIM card slot in it. I put my SIM card in the slot but can't make phone calls. what am I missing ? what is the point of putting in if aI can't use it. I am so disappointed I bought it to have a big screen phone. Hey there! Your iPad mini has a SIM card slot for its own SIM card, not for the one from another device. You can't make phone calls from the iPad mini by itself. Apple offers a feature called phone continuity which uses your iPhone when nearby, but that doesn't require a SIM card either. A separate phone number (and SIM card) is needed when you want to use your iPad mini as a standalone device when not connected to wifi or via tethering. Does that answer your question?

That's how it worked for older iPads that came with physical SIMs but eSIM should be unlocked.

If you paid for the ipad in full it should not lock and if does you can always call the carrier to unlock it
