@blackbriarwolf portability. I actually use my Samsung Galaxy tab S6 to edit my videos. That thing has plenty of power and with the Samsung keyboard and stylus pen, editing videos without needing to carry my laptop while traveling is perfect. This is quite small and I haven't attempted to edit anything on it yet, but as long as it has the power to edit 4k video, editing on this is a great portable solution to a full on computer/laptop especially when portability matters

Paperlike and the Apple Pencil 2nd gen pair really well! Can confirm since I'm using this combo on my wife's iPad Pro 11 inch. Best part is that very often you get the sound and tactile feel of graphite on lined paper; that distinctive finely-textured drag and the faint but high-pitched sound of a pencil tip writing to paper is present and wonderful.

That’s the one thing I don’t like is the storage options. But I love it and I’m using it way more than I thought I would. The screen size change from 7.9 to 8.3 didn’t seem big, but it really is and makes it more accessible. Adding the Apple Pencil 2 support, I’m sold. I’m glad I upgraded from the mini 5 this is easier to digital plan.

Honestly, I was told having an iphone, ipad pro 12.9 and now a mini was a waste of money - and maybe it's a bit excessive - but I use my iphone 11 pro max when I'm out to check things and make calls and send texts and take photos, I use my 12.9 for work and photo editing and drawing, and this mini is now my perfect home consumption device, couch gaming, and e-reader. I couldn't hold my 12.9 for a long time and my phone is too small to read without glasses - so as excessive as it may seem, this device has been perfect all around. I will say though - I for some reason cannot get used to touch ID lol. I can't tell you how many times I open my mini and stare at it like an idiot waiting for it to just open. Face ID would have made it much better.

@@thanospappas3816 yeah I think it depends on your use situations (and obviously budget). I wouldn’t suggest the mini to someone who doesn’t already have a laptop and a phone because it doesn’t really replace either of them. I love the small form factor of the mini, but it’s seriously limiting if you need to do any real typing, multitasking, drawing, editing. If money isn’t an issue, sure get whatever you want, but you’re right, if you can’t buy whatever, the iPad Air or the 11” pro is more suited for multiple purposes.

I bought iPad mini purely based on your videos, and I'm very happy with my decision. I also have the big iPad Pro M1, and iPad mini fits in a totally different place in my life. - iPad mini for casual reading in the bed, in Starbucks, in the park; I even take it with me when I'm riding my bike as it fits in the back pocket of my cycling jersey. The big iPad Pro on the other hand is amazing for travel: watching movies and shows (especially HDR!), editing photos inn LR, or doing e-mail and some work...

So I bought the iPad mini 6, and honestly, it was what I’ve always wanted since I dabbled in the iPad area. I liked the full screen nature of the pro, air, etc. While the price jump was higher on this, I still love it. All I wanted was the full screen design, and on top of that, we got center stage, Apple Pencil Gen 2 support, and even a flashlight! Honestly, it’s like they took everything I disliked about the air in the lineup, made it the size I wanted, and delivered. I do not regret my purchase. I’ve tried both pro sizes, the mini 5, and the air and all were either too pricey for my use case, or didn’t feel good enough. It’s mostly an entertainment device / note taking device for college when I need hand written notes. Again, the price went up and goes against my point for the other iPads, but I love the size and full screen part. Also the NO DUMB CHARGING for the pencil (looking at you Gen one). It’s just perfect in my eyes. Finally. Which is what justifies the purchase for me. Great review. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

@superduperseann
@superduperseann 2 жыл бұрын
@@jamied8667 if you’re buying new, there is only a $100 difference. For me it was a no brained. Full size screen in a still smaller case, Apple Pencil Gen 2 support, and the better front camera WITH center stage. Those three things were what I needed to be convinced to do a 6 instead of an air or older mini. If they don’t apply, or you find a good deal on a 5 used / refurb, maybe that is the way to go. Personally, I wanted new as I am planning on keeping for many, many years. The main thing I really wanted was center stage for zoom / FaceTime and the Gen 2 Apple support. Full screen and flash on back were icing on the cake.

I love the iPad mini 6; I was a little bit apprehensive due to the price but I have not regretted it, I love it! I’d bought the iPad gen 8 and I was so disappointed with it and sold it. The only negatives with the mini 6 I would say , is the short battery life and it seems to take a while to charge too. No bad thing to have a break from the screen I guess. I will always dislike how KZbin videos add more of a bezel to the screen; I’m sure there’s a reason but I don’t know that it is.

I love a good iPad, and was a mini user for years. I now have a couple of iPad pros, and after watching a lot of these mini reviews I just feel the price tag misses the mark. The mini was originally the more affordable iPad and to get it you had to compromise on size. Now I feel you’re almost paying a premium for a smaller screen, which just doesn’t make sense to me. Given the price point of the iPad Air, I don’t think this one should cost more than $350. If it did, I could almost see myself getting a third iPad. I think it would really just make more sense for people that already have one iPad and could have a second as a more portable device or to use in conjunction with their existing set up of either a laptop or a larger iPad.

I added the Paperlike cover and it made all the difference when writing. There's a tradeoff with screen sharpness. But, it's actually easier on the eyes to read. Writing and reading are why I have this iPad. If I want to consume video. I'll get on my Mac Book Pro or iPad Pro. Yeah, got the whole set. Only beef on this one: the cellular sucks the battery pretty darn quick. I tend to leave it toggled off to extend battery life and turn it on only when needed.

I first played with the new Mini at the Apple store. I scrolled and all but just today heard about the "jelly scrolling". Like you said, you only will Maybe notice it IF you are looking for it. Jelly Scroll or Jumpy Scroll is a byproduct of a 60 Ghz refresh rate, which by the way is standard on all Non-Pro or Pro-Motion iOS's for a while now. Funny how this is NOW an issue on a non pro device when nobody even notices until the internet said so.

I really love my iPad Mini 6. Fits perfectly my needs, perfect size, perfect weight. I found myself using my old iPad Air 2 more like a... desktop on the go and less like a real tablet : too heavy too big... at the end I was using my iPhone 8 + more than i wanted. BUT. The Jelly Scrolling IS a thing. Even before seeing the videos on Internet i noticed it. If you use your iPad horizontally it is distracting TO ME when there are lots of lines even on normal use. I hardly tried to forget it but it is VERY OBVIOUS and constantly on my face... YES after 2 weeks of doubts i chose to keep it because i found myself using the Mini vertically more often. But i NEVER saw this on ANY iPad i ever used (not at this level anyway) so we can't just say "forget about it". It's an expensive machine, some people may be more sensitive, some copies may be more affected. Try it yourself if you can ! If it's not an issue FOR YOU go for this beautiful machine. If not... hopefully Apple will fix it (discreetly of course) for the next copies over the months/years.

Hi Mark, thanks for the great video. I'm totally with you. iPad mini 6 and Pencil Gen2 is such a perfect combination for daily business I wonder it took Apple so long to release this bundle. One question about the paperlike screen saver. Which one do you use? The one from the brand "paperlike"? Cause this one isn't available yet for the iPad mini 6. So did you some custom cutting to a bigger one? Thx! :-) Tom

I don't quite get why a good portion of people think Jelly Scroll is a big deal. The only time I see the Jelly Scroll is when people slow the video and really point it out. The most important part (for me) about the iPad is how the iPad mini is .65 lbs, it is the lightest iPad, which makes it the main iPad free of fatigue or sore limbs from holding it.

We’ve had the iPad mini for maybe 6 months? I never knew there was a scroll issue until seeing it mentioned in a video yesterday. It works great for us! We may hand it over to our son to use, so I may get a larger iPad for easier side-by-side viewing because that’s not ideal on the mini because it’s small. I also don’t like watching movies & shows on such a small screen. The touch ID isn’t great. I have to touch it multiple times sometimes and other times it works without issue. I have soft hands. I really wish the usb-c port was on the same side as the buttons. When using the screen in portrait mode, I have to choose whether to have the port with something plugged in, on the bottom and the cord pushing against things on the bottom (lap, stand, etc) or having the buttons on the bottom if the port is on top. I never noticed the padding issue mentioned either, so that wasn’t an issue for me either.

My iPad Air 2 is super lightweight and still works amazingly for everything you mentioned but with a bigger screen for better consumption and even productivity. However it's not powerful enough for mega-high-end games to run smoothly and there's no USB-C. Other than those two points, it's still perfect.

Ur review is very reasonable and something that I can relate to as a normal guy with normal expectations from devices I buy. Returned mine for the 11 inch pro. Was coming from a 2017 pro 10.5 inch. Really liked the form factor of the mini but the display truly was a let down for me personally. Also wasn’t thrilled that the base storage is 64gb. Forced me to the 256gb which is overpriced in my opinion. For only $100 more, I got the 11 pro from the education store. On a side note, I’m really loving the Apple Pencil 2.

Re: price. One thing I haven't seen mentioned in reviews is that, for those of us who've been waiting for the re-design-i.e. those of us who are iPad Mini loyalists-not only do we need to pay for the rather expensive upgrade (from the Mini 5 or lower). But we also have to pay for a new Apple Pencil. Sure: the second generation pencil is part of the appeal of making the upgrade. But it definitely makes the sticker shock that much more intense. Even if you take advantage of the trade-in option (which, unfortunately, doesn't apply to the first gen pencil; at least not here in Canada), you're looking at a really serious expenditure. (With the added kick that, because they decided to tweak the form factor ever-so-slightly, some cases that worked on the Mini 5 might not work with the 6). Given that Apple probably knew that a large part of the demographic that wanted the Mini 6 redesign were current Mini owners, it would've been nice for them to figure out some way to make the upgrade less onerous.
