Thanks for your great video. With your help I successfully replaced the flickering LCD on my daughter's Ipad mini. I replaced the screen at the same time because I was expecting to break it when removing it. Very pleased that I managed to remove without damaging the screen so I now have a spare one. By the way I used the suction pad from my Go pro suction cup mount. It is so powerful I could have pulled the screen off without the use of a blade. For those of you who are asking about how much heat to use, the glue becomes soft when it is a bit higher than body temperature. Keep that heat gun on there for too long and you may well destroy the other components inside, particularly the lithium battery!
@kei51movie5 жыл бұрын
If you have cracks on the screen, it is better to apply the duct tape on the screen before taking it off, then you don't need to worry about scattering the glass around. Thanks for posting this video!

Suction cup can be found on the soap holder in the bathroom, alternatively there is one shipped with the iPad Mini digitizer sold by LaptopScreen

Thanks for the video. Most informative I found and the suction cup method is, without a doubt, the best way to get the removal started. Everyone else recommended a razor blade which will scratch the finish if you're not EXTREMELY careful. Appreciate all the time you put into this.

Hey just a quick tip, when you have both the lcd and glass tilted over, instead of holding it the whole time you can place a suction cup behind the glass and have it rest on it.

Kevin Finucane your supposed to turn off the device, and disconnect the battery first. But ive never had an issue with any iphone or ipad ive fixed where disconnecting the battery last (on accident) . The thing is if there is dust in those connectors, or anything, it can make a connection fail (which has happened for me on my 5s, the screen would turn in but the digitizer cable although in wouldnt work b/c of dust Just check and make sure.

One important part that's missing is the magnets. There are two magnets on the digitizer. The new one from ebay usually does not come with them. If you don't notice, you will not be able to use the smartcover. I missed and threw them away with the broken digitizer. Only after I put on the smartcover, I realized.

I have new screen and digitizer but am beginning to feel the problem is probably the lcd. I can and have backed it up on my mac. Questions: 1. does it sound like the lcd? 2. Hi there, it should be fairly obvious if the LCD is damaged - black "ink" stains, straight vertical lines, etc. If only the glass is broken the picture should be fine, except for the cracks overlaid from the glass. The $46.99 is the actual LCD (not a touchscreen), glass IS the touchscreen (digitizer), so if the picture doesn't show black "ink" then only glass needs to be replaced.

LaptopScreen doesn't provide mail-in repairs yet. However iPad Mini, as seen above, is not the most difficult repair imaginable, we'd rate the difficulty (on a professional scale) as 5/10: using appropriate tools and plenty of patience, a first time repairer should complete the job in under an hour. As well we now sell direct-drop-in iPad Mini parts (no soldering required)

I tried using hair dryer on High for 3 min. and is hot to touch, I use suction cup like you but fail to separate the upper left corner. So how hot is hot? do I need to use a shrink wrap heat gun? BTW I don't have a shatter glass, I just need to open the glass part to fix a ghost touching problem I'm having with my ipad.

***** You could try pulling from the middle close to either left or right edge - where the bezel is the thinnest - and continue separation from there. The glue will be very tacky even when sufficiently hot - some effort is required.

Jose Manuel Toledano The new digitizer should have new adhesive on it. You should clean out the old adhesive before applying the new digitizer. If no new adhesive is used you have to ensure that the old adhesive is not contaminated with finger oil, lint, dust or hair/fibers. Old adhesive may never work again is you have touched it with bare hands or let your shirt/sweater on it. Use alcohol and lots of patience/elbow grease if your old adhesive is contaminated to remove it all fully.

@Laptopscreen8 жыл бұрын
Yes, you would have to perform all the steps shown in the video. You would need to disconnect the digitizer in order to remove it and reconnect the new digitizer to make it work. The digitizer's connector is on the logic board, under the LCD and the EM shield, that is why you would need to remove the LCD and the EM shield to gain access to the digitizer's connector. Watch the video carefully to understand the answer to your question.

The very important step is after connecting the new digitizer and LCD , it is required to check if both are working good and then you can go ahead to close it completely otherwise if the digitizer is faulty or LCD is not good, the iPad is still open to replace them without re-open again and you still have chance to return the faulty digitizer or LCD to your vendor!

+TheFlamingArrow You could tell them that the dog was casually eating its daily fill of Kleenex when you sneezed and got into a little scuffle over the last of the Kleenex. You won the scuffle, but the vindictive canine, unsatisfied with its forcefully diminished portion of daily fiber, proceeded to take out its revenge on the unsuspecting iPad. It knew full well that doing so would put you in a precarious position, since the iPad was previously repaired at great cost; but choose to execute its revenge with cold-calculation and malicious intent to cause you the most grief. Or you can tell them the truth and that you can now repair the iPad on your own, and that the parts cost less than $30, but the experience and the satisfaction of fixing the device you own by yourself - is priceless!

Yes, yes, a Chinese person, naturally, from your local Chinatown no-less. Come see me between the fish stand and the ginger root hut. I give you good price, cause I love you long time.

The LCD broke while following this video. Remove all glue “tape” before pulling the LCD. Lifting the LCD is harder than it is portrayed here. I’m really sad it broke 😔😔
