First attempt - total fail. Will try round two. James, you make it look so easy. Your squiggles turn into trees. Mine seem to remain squiggles. The snow shading is particularly difficult. You run your pen across a few times you get a perfectly believable mound. Mine does seem to want to co-operate. Perhaps one day.

Loved the tip of leatherwood brush with no grain for the texture of the pines trees + gaussian blur to give appearance of soft brush to blend with the rest of the picture. I used to struggle a lot on your videos when you drew pine tree skeletons, mine turned out so bad, even after watching your pine tree sketches. The only good think for mine is that most of the times they would get covered in snow and give a cool effect. I find it impressive that you can do that texture with only a soft brush. But this one in particular helped a lot obtaining the shape and texture I couldn't in other videos. Gonna use this a lot thanks James!

OK, two questions, if I may ... 1. Have you ever considered calling yourself Proc Ross? 2. How hard is it for you to not say "happy little tree"? Awesome vids, easy to navigate and follow, teaching me techniques I can use in concept art.

Your videos are amazing and so calming. I did try a couple of your landscapes, they were not nearly as good as yours but then again i am not an artist like you are😂. I have a request though, the reflected light from your table can be distracting sometimes, if you could make the background darker it would make your videos much more immersive in my opinion.
@JamesJulier-Artist3 жыл бұрын
Thank you 🙏 I’ve been considering a different surface, maybe just a darker wood would work. 🤔

Love it! I would love if you can explain (or even as an idea for a video) the process of imaging your picture and choosing your color palette since you always start with a given palette. How do you know that those colors will fit and mix perfectly for e.g. your trees or the snow? What's the process in your mind and how do you test them, etc.? Keep up the good work:)

Everything is great, but where are the shadows from the trees?
@JamesJulier-Artist3 жыл бұрын
The sun isn’t actually that full force and so much of the light is diffused leading to a general hazy darkness around the bases but not clear shadows
@andorjeen3 жыл бұрын
@@JamesJulier-Artist man, you’re kidding, right?:)) even the red sun have enough light to create highlights and shadows (picsart.com/i/image-sunset-240985032035202). Also, you have shadows on the snow from highs and lows.
@JamesJulier-Artist3 жыл бұрын
The painting does have darker areas at the base of trees, the just aren’t clear shadows. I did my research and the photos I looked at showed the same thing I presented. Thanks 😊

James, I am a huge fan and I have followed along with many of your paintings, I just have a question about printing some of the work I have done, if I leave the canvas at A4 I assume it would not look great if it was printed at 12X16 size or larger, what canvas and pixel settings should I use to be able to order prints of my work ? Thanks in Advance and keep up the awesome work, you are an inspiration to us all :)
