Hi North! Im mostly a silent viewer but it might help: I just watched the RTX 3090 Liquid metal desaster and you asked if anyone knows a good way to remove LM -> Everytime i want to remove Liquid metal i use a Syringe to suck most of it up, works wonders!

I wish you were in the UK, I have a motherboard with a component that is half connected to the board, it would be too expensive to send to you. Luckily I managed to find a motherboard on Ebay, so should be back up and running Monday.

Great repair and finding, my only concern is that shield. Not sure what you did afterwards but leaving it without a shield could impact the WiFi performance, desensitize the antenna or noise issues in general.

The thermal flicker was not coming from the MOSFET, but from the QFN to the right of it. (thermal pad half cover the chip) Anyway, nice catch!

You could measure the mosfet that you think it's bad after removing it, just to be sure, and not do the work of replacing it is it's good

I noticed the marking on the parts are different. Suspecting silicon chip shortage forced apple to find an alternative part, which is why you haven’t seen this issue before. The chip shortage is going to bring in more firsts me thinks…
