there are no extra holidays other than the govt. holidays. For UG students the attendance is not that strict in most departments, but some dept ARE quite strict so you have to maintain an optimum attendance.

@@vishxlh yes durga puja is included in the govt holidays so there is chhutti at that time. As extension of the 1 week holiday, students usually mass bunk so you're not actually missing any classes at that time :)

I'm not really well versed with the AMC guidelines but if I compare it with USMLE then your college just needs to be approved within a special list (I think it's called, World Directory of Medical Schools). Other than that it all depends on your active participation in various fields to fill in your CV. And of course academics, and that also depends on you. If there's some specific criteria for AMC that needs to be fulfilled by the college then do let me know and I'll try to answer you :) And congratulations!

it's okay don't shy away from asking questions :) the thing is my home is in west bengal and at the time of counselling it was one of my priorities to get a college in my state. and IPGMER was the one college I liked. in your case I think you should consult with your parents and see for yourself what suits you best. I'm sorry I couldn't be of much help :(

hi that is a really great score! congratulations :) about choice filling, it depends on your preference honestly. i suggest you watch campus tours of the other colleges too and search about the locations nearby. also see the hostels and centeen facilities and then decide after comparing :)

@@vishxlh MCK is famous for their best "senior-junior" relationship and they have an Opposition voice in students union unlike ruling party monopoly which is found in every other colleges. They have a tradition of "baba-kaka..." batches as per seniority, my brother is studying there and according to him, their 99.9% seniors are actually helpful unlike other colleges of Kolkata where they always create a toxic environment. Yeah, if hostel is your preference then SSKM has the best hostels etc. But in terms of academics, MCK is gets a bit of edge over SSKM, but also there is a fake hype on SSKM about better infrastructure, it's not the building/ architectural infrastructure which is required for a MBBS students nor they are allowed for any sort of proper clinical posting at superspeciality units. MCK=SSKM in terms of academic infrastructure but yes you do get new labs at SSKM. What matters most is the environment of the college which is always created by the students studying there and a little bit on the quality of professors.

hii actually hostel allotment depends firstly on distance from home. jar bari joto dure se beshi priority pabe. tarpore depends on number of students applying for hostel. onek somoye sobai allot hoy, abar kokhono allot nao hote pare.
