I took three of the latest flagships - iPhone 11 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus, and Vivo Nex 5G - out to the Hong Kong harbor for a test.

@@bensgadgetreviews Well, it's either that or you simply haven't taken a wide arrange of different circumstances enough to draw the conclusion night mode is better on iPhone. Plenty of images I've seen where the Note 10 clearly outshines the iPhones. I'm tired of the oversharpening excuse all the time about a photo that clearly is just sharper and more detailed. Your review was definitely worded biased. Highlighting Note 'weaknesses' instead of strenghts and the opposite on the iPhone.

As an iPhone user, I noticed on Samsung phones- there’s a lot more vibrancy in their screens, and photos. The colours seem saturated or something. Still looks gorgeous.

6:17 look at the colors of the buildings on the Nex 3... That almost looks like surreal and dreamlike.. Did the buildings change their lights to those colors, or did the night mode on that phone change the hue a bit? I really LIKE that atmosphere in the Nex 3 photo though, but i worry it isnt really accurate to how it looked irl?

iphone will always look natural in day and night photography because of their software but I prefer Samsung night mode because it's more brighter and vibrant.

It overexposes so you cannot look inside storefronts nor overexposed billboards. Essentically, it makes the photo brighter but not what your eyes see.

McApp Perspective my iPhone pro is way brighter in low light than the note. He was taking pics on light. If you get in a dark place and not take a pic of the light. iPhone is 10x better.

@DCD I disagree, Samsung clearly over-sharpened the photo while iPhone has the best natural look to it. I have one, and it's tendency to over-sharpen the details disappoint me especially in low light shooting.

It's so sad to see that Samsung isn't straying away from their over-sharpened, super-saturated image processing. Not surprised by the overall result but I didn't expect the iPhone to be that good with the video stabilization. On a side note : For future comparisons, it might be a bit janky but could you by any chance tape/stick all phones to a board of sorts and take the photos in quick succession so that there are less variables when it comes to lighting?

I thought the second low light image on the Note 10 plus had way more details which you ignored in favour of iPhone's exposure(I don't see how the Samsung is overexposed). In the selfie mode the Note 10 plus had the beauty mode on , so I'd say if you wanted a beauty mode selfie then the Note 10 did its thing. You are a big KZbinr yet you didn't mention that the Note 10 has night mode selfies as well as night mode on 2x and 0.5x lens too. So the Note 10 plus was pretty compromised in this comparison.

I thought it's bit biased and have never user android to be honest, because anyone who've used android must have installed GCAM and in that in low light night mode suggestion comes up and tapping on it will automatically switch to night mode which I think is better than forcefully using night mode on iPhone and other advantage of that interface is that we can manually switch to night mode which you can't do in iPhone.

if you are in really dark places, samsung autmatically add more sec to make photos, iphone probably as well. So in birighter scene you shot much quicker, cause is more light. :) btw you do the most true comparision. Hold on, I’m halfway though the video but I’m going to stop you here. You want to do a test on how the cameras will take photos without you pressing or sliding on the screen. So how come you manually adjusted iPhone to disable low light but you did nothing on the other phones? If it was fair and true to your word, wouldn’t iPhone be the only one to have a low light setting turned on while the others aren’t? Edit: finished with the video. Giving you a like anyway because not many people are doing this. Very thorough comparisons. I’m torn between the nex and iPhone. Don’t know which one to get.

Because the iPhone automatically turns on night mode. So I turned off the night mode to test just normal camera. The other phones don't need to because night mode doesn't turn on automatically.

I've been a die-hard Galaxy owner since the S2 but I'll be getting an iPhone-11 Pro. The main reason is the iPhones generally have more natural images where if I wanted to enhance images to look like the Galaxy, I could always do that in post. In addition to the processor speed advantage, there are a number of additional reasons but to discuss all would make this comment too long. It's always tougher or more likely impossible to un-enhance an image or video as something gets lost in the process. I can see the benefit of default enhanced images straight out of the camera for something like Instagram, but since I always want the best possible overall results I'll often edit the image or footage in post. Someone may comment that I should be using a DSLR for best possible results, my comment is the phone is always with me and convenient to take out of my pocket to begin recording footage immediately where I may lose opportunities if I had to get my DSLR going. And then there are often social functions where carrying a DSLR and camera bag for the gear associated with it is inappropriate.
