Nice... Great to hear that you got your phone working. I do not know why the repair stores are not repairing these phones because most issues are fairly simple to do once you get the phone open. Thank you for the comment.

My phones face id stopped working months ago from water damage. However it worked fine. The other day water came into the bottom of my speaker for my iPhone 11 max. Now it’s stuck on the restore screen with this error. Would removing the proximity sensor fix it? Or do I have to do something else?

Will try to change this . My phone has the same issue . Just ordered parts . Will change new LCD , proxity sensor and new battery .

Yes, the phone will boot up with out the proximity sensor. This the easy way to troubleshoot this. But remember to take your phone out of the recovery mode before doing this. Otherwise you will not know if it boots up.

you give me a hope with my iPhone 12 mini but I'm not able to do that. At the Apple Store they told me it's not fixable. In a private shop I got the same answer. I'm shocked, they 100% know that "repair" is working, but they don't want to do it. If I lose the Face ID it's not a big deal...

Sad to hear that you cannot get anybody to fix it. If you cannot get anybody to do that then you have nothing to lose if you try it your self. They are a bit hard to open but with the basic tools it is possible. If you have some old phones you can first practice with them.

You need to change it since it has the ear speaker in the same module. But interesting point. Since the short is caused by the sensor maybe if you just de-solder the sensor chip it may work. Or it has some of the speaker functionality also tied in to it. I do not know. If you decide to test this please let me know.

are you out of the recovery mode. If you still see your itunes symbol or the symbol for the cable your are not. I you get the apple logo and boot loop you may have a different issue. What was the error code you got from the apple devices program?

@@modernfix1 i get the error 4013. I tried to recover the phone using itunes that is when i got stuck at recovery state. After i removed my proximity censor it still gives the error when i try to restore phone.

@@modernfix1 After i exit recovery mode it worked then the phone went off again. I then tried to update and i got stuck at 'Attempting recovery mode' The phone goes off and on again.

I removed the proximity sensor and it still shows I’m in recovery mode. I follow the steps in the description and it just reboots to the recovery screen.

You need to come out of the recovery mode. If the repair did not work it should only flash the apple logo. If it goes to the recovery mode screen showing you the cable logo then you have not exited the recovery mode. I you are unable to exit it you can try googling for softwares for this. Usually the entering and exiting the mode is a free function on these softwares.

If you do not use apple parts, change the chip or you can even re-write the chip, you will loose face id.

@@Mk1982-q4c To confirm this proximity sensor issue you need open the phone. Exit recovery mode first, then shutdown the phone. Open the phone and remove the proximity sensor ribbon cable. If after this when you power on the phone it turns on then this is your issue.

You tested it by removing the cable. Did you check the error code?
