Know I’m late but I’m happy to see the 11 still worked. I’ve got that phone & was in a car wreck fairly recently… At any rate the car flips multiple times. I was life flighted to a hospital for 4 days. After getting home & taking it out of the case, I realized it had been sitting in a pool of blood inside the case the whole time. It still worked & to my surprise, no broken glass at all!

If my math works out (Assume the angle was 40 degree on the rope relative to the water horizon mark) For the iPhones really get down as low as 18 feet (5.4864 meters) You need: 18/sin(40)=28(To the nearest whole number) 28 Feet of rope length to really get those iPhones down to the 18 feet deep water. (It would be more helpful to know the flow rate of the river to get the further on this question) *Also its quite common for the deeper you get down a river the higher the flow rate is.
