I would still go for 4K as I can set my frame rate to 24 or 60 fps. If i get close enough to a subject i can even get some of that natural looking shallow depth of field

Hi great video I have the 13 pro max I make feature films I am ate. The rest were photography opening manager, Sony, equipment, and red cameras. But when you’re doing the shoot, you have to take cases and cases of equipment and that my age I hate that. So I wanna make my first feature film with my 13 promax. And edit it in final cut. Will that be sufficient after all the sound work after one close captioning is done. I will be sufficient for streaming services on Netflix. Want to know your thoughts? Thanks.

Thanks for asking! Its important that you transfer your files via cable or airdop. When using Airdrop make sure to enable all photo data in the options. Then when importing the footage into fcp you habe the cinematic toggle in the inspector which will a activate the blur once you checked it. Hope that made sense :)

Great tips! I’m a newbie. I used Cinematic mode to shoot a video in low light, which looked fabulous on the phone, but when I put it into Final Cut Pro X to edit, it was WAY blown out. The machine said something about the phone video being HDR and putting it into SDR? I had to darken significantly and didn’t like the results. HELP!

You will need to convert your HDR video into SDR. Just look up HDR tool and apply it to your HDR clip. Then in the inspector choose HLG.

Social media apps have to keep files small for a smooth and efficient experience. To do this they compress videos and photos. When exporting from your editing software make sure not to export with too large a file. For IG I usually export 540p or 720p depending how big it makes the file.

You could shoot a t 1080p in 30fps to slow it down a bit and then use optical flow in the edit to stretch out the slow motion even further. Unfortunately there is currently no other option in cinematic mode to increase the frame rate. Otherwise choose the standard video mode and choose 60fps and get close to the subject to create a natural looking blurry background.

Just a thought - its not so much 24fps that makes something cinematic, probably more 24fps and dragging the shutter to get that motion blur, too many folks shoot 24fps at ultra high shutter that would never happen on a film camera, and wonder why everything stutters.
