I've actually gone the other way. After 10 years of Android (most recently the S20 Ultra), I've jumped back to my first iPhone since iPhone 4 and there's something mentally quite pleasant and refreshing about the experience. I don't feel as restricted as I thought I would be. With Android, sometime you can have too much choice and an endless landfill of barely useable 3rd party apps to the point where i'd find myself tinkering with things almost for the sake of tinkering. They can feel so bloated with junk, even from new. The iPhone just feels smooth, streamlined and less cluttered. I'm completely on the fence though. I think both are great (I've kept hold of my S20 Ultra as a back-up) and it always amuses me to see Android and Apple fans fighting over incredibly similar, and equally amazing, devices.

One thing I've noticed since switching to an iPhone is their excellent standby time. I'm not a heavy user, and most of the times I could get away with 3 days without charging and still have around 20% juice left. This has never happened with any Android phone I've ever owned. I was also surprised to see how polished iOS is. This may sound unbelieveable but I've never had the iPhone stuck or hitch, and I mean literally never. Whereas Androids just aren't as smooth, there will be annoying stutters and lag here and there, even with the latest and greatest hardware.

Another great video, thanks! However, as someone who uses both phones everyday (Android for personal use & iPhone for work) I'd have to say while they're both great, the Samsung and most Android phones are much better to use. The customization, android software/google ecosystem support, screen, everyday speed advantage over iPhone, etc. iPhones are good for what they do but they're soooo limited, they still can't don't offer an always on display, split screen support, or even true live wallpaper support.

I have also owned Androids for years, and I love them. Both are great devices, and it just really comes down to preference. I prefer Apple’s ecosystem, and how well devices work with each other across the ecosystem, but if I wasn’t, I’d probably re-consider Samsung. Both Android and iOS are excellent, polished, and refined systems, and they’re so comparable on so many levels in terms of hardware and software that, to me, it’s a wash between the two. Technology is simply amazing. The amount of power and access we have to information these days is incredible. Get either one, and be happy with it. No need to bash the other because you chose one. 😊

Glad to see someone talk about something VERY important that most reviewers seem to miss... ergonomics. The iPhone is no doubt attractive in design, but given the shape and weight, it is a pain to hold in one hand for long periods of time. This is something that users will benefit/suffer from on a daily basis and it´s mostly ignored... Hope more people talk about these aspects which actually make a difference, instead of the most minute camera features, which most users will enjoy just as much on these two flagships.
@Gusttox3 жыл бұрын
I just changed from the S10+ to iPhone 13 Pro Max, and yes, ergonomics are important to the user. The weight of the iPhone 13 Pro Max is just really heavy. When I use it for just half an hour, my wrists starts to feel weird, it’s just so heavy. When I put my iPhone down and use my S10+ it was a relief for my wrists. I would rather hold my old S10+ for longer periods of time. However I’d rather have the heavy weight of the iPhone 13 Pro Max because it comes with the increased battery life and this I can guarantee that it lasts all day, I can’t even describe how good the battery life is, I only charge my iPhone to 80% and it still lasted all day. Would definitely trade that for the uncomfy feel on my wrists.
@TheLinuxExperience3 жыл бұрын
@@Gusttox Yes, I understand, ideally we will eventually get phone where both battery life and ergonomics are not either/or. Having said so, personally I prefer having a phone with good battery (even if not as great as iPhone) but with better ergonomics and fast charging. In that regard, I think OnePlus is the best compromise for me. I can enjoy good battery life and then charge in a few minutes back to a full day usage, all without breaking my hand while holding the phone. In my experience, my wrists are usually OK when holding a heavy phone, but I tend to support the weight of the phone on my pinky finger. After a while, specially on phones that have flat edges and pointy corners, that hurts.
@ChucklesMcChuckleson3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Apple needs a change from the same old flat faced phone. And the screen on the S21 is undeniable. Yes, their PPI is similar, but there's just something about no notch that makes the screen seem so much larger and more vibrant.

The resale issue is true. However, I don't worry about that because when I upgrade I do it through Samsung and not only do I get TOP dollar....I end up getting 2-3 NEW items FREE. apple trade in program is NOT nearly as good regardless of how much you paid for the phone. Trust me....I have experienced it. For example when I traded my Note20 Ultra for the S21 Ultra with Samsung...I got 900.00 for the phone plus FREE Galaxy pro buds(which sounds better than the Airpods pro), Free You Tube premium , and a FREE wireless charger. Apple will NEVER give you 900.00 on trade in for a phone. NO way! You are better off to sell your iphone on Craigslist or something. So in that case Samsung wins! Whats funny about the Samsungs being worth less after a year of use, is that they typically perform better at a year old vs a year old iPhone. One of my largest complaints about my iPhone was that after time it just seemed to perform worse and worse as it got older. I've had my s10+ since it came out and it still works like the day I got it. (Minus the battery, as all phones do the battery life has gotten a little worse over time). But any iPhone I've ever had is almost unusable after about 2yrs.

I’ve been an iPhone user since the original iPhone, though I wouldn’t consider myself a fanboy. My husband is 100% an Android user. I do occasionally find myself jealous of some of the features and customization options he has, but at the same time, whenever you lose something from using one over the other, you also gain something. For example, our house has a lot of “smart” features (lights, TV, air conditioning, etc). He has gotten his android to work with it all, but things are just more seamless on my iPhone. Not to mention, he finds himself needing to upgrade at least every two years while I tend to hang on to my iPhone for 3.

Very nice, objective review. Great visuals, great narration and sound quality. Both of these phones are ridiculously expensive, but it is nice to know (I suppose) that they both deliver something special for that outrageous price tag. Don't be surprised if Apple goes all-MagSafe and does away with the Lightning port altogether. That may sound crazy, but I wouldn't be surprised if MagSafe incorporates data traffic (they already do with the M1 iMac with Ethernet port embedded in MagSafe). But that's probably not going to materialize for another one to three years, according to rumors. I'd be happier with USB-C or even Thunderbolt, but Apple would probably never do that. The Galaxy S21 UItra is an impressive phone. Too bad each phone is locked into its own technology ecosystem. Either way, you're forced to compromise. That's mobile technology in the early 21st century for you.

After several hundred charde/discharge cycles ALL batteries lose their ability to hold a charge and lose amperage. It's the nature of batteries. Fast charging is actually NOT good for your battery. I recently switched this past year from Android to iPhone and to be honest, iPhones are just much more clean in terms of presentation. I do mess fully customizing my home screen but that's pretty much it. Apps work way better on iOS and messaging is literally night and day. But yeah, just my 2 cents.

I've had this iphone 13 pro max for a days weeks and I love it. Watching you test it really makes me feel like I made the right choice. The phone feels really solid and now I know it really is. I got mine for an affordable price. Not up to that amount though...you can also orders yours from where i got mine

Love that you picked one, unlike most side by side reviews that end up in "both are equally great, you decide".

Great Vid Tom as usual.. I’m currently on the 12 Pro and will probably stay with it till the 14??? I have to say though..for me the issue that stops the discussion is Exynos… a Samsung S21 Ultra with Snapdragon would be thinkable but IPhone kills the Samsung with Exynos. Question though, is the camera on 13 Pro worth it to jump from my 12 Pro?
@daddyknowsbest23413 жыл бұрын
There are some great camera comparisons out there on KZbin that I have seen between the two. For still shots they kinda go back and forth (in my opinion) Samsung wins in zoom, and camera options, and Apple wins for video. 👍🏽

Exynos 2100 is very good. Do not compare the 990 with it as it is on a different level in power, efficiency and heat management. It heats much less than 888 and is less power hungry. The 888 is only 5-7% better which when comparing the rest, it is superb.

Been using and loving the S21 Ultra since launch. But if Apple goes with titanium band and a thicker phone to make the cameras more flush with the body and add USB-C, it will be hard not to switch back to ios next year.
@AeroSatan3 жыл бұрын
@CGGS_Gaming they're gonna redesign it one way or another, if it's to make it a bit thicker, with an even better battery life and more flush cameras, it'll be a hit and a half
@atisbasak3 жыл бұрын
iPhone 14 will not have USB C. It will instead be completely portless.
@atisbasak3 жыл бұрын
@CGGS_Gaming Of course it will.
@atisbasak3 жыл бұрын
@CGGS_Gaming Nope. Apple will go completely portless with the iPhone 13 as legislation in the European Union has stated that all smartphones from 2023 onwards will have to use a standard port, and that would mean iPhones would have to have USB C like Android phones which Apple would never want.
@atisbasak3 жыл бұрын
@CGGS_Gaming Eventually all countries will require smartphones to have USB C. So Apple will have to kill the Lightning port and go portless.

The 13 pro max is just leagues ahead of the 21 ultra in almost every aspect except the display and even that can be subjective because not many care about having a 2k+ display as the iPhone's 460ppi display is plenty sharp enough to notice any difference. But, I'd rather go with the 21 ultra because it just offers way more flexibility and features over the iPhone.

Tbh the new Iphone is really impressive. I will wait for the Pixel 6 pro and S22 Ultra because I love everything android and it's in my opinion still rar ahead of IOS. (In my opinion!!!)

New sub to your channel. Great video. I have the Ultra S21 that I use for work and I have the iPhone 12 mini that I use for every day use. I like both but apps are made better for iOS and the operating system is smoother for Apple and doesn’t get as buggy. Snapdragon and the overall open functionality and customization is better. So it’s preference over what’s best because they both add value just depends on what you like.
