🤔 actually I’d prefer to have the back of the phone exposed when using the Beast Cage and I’ll tell you why. The iPhone 14 series tend to almost overheat, so the solution to that is attaching magnetic cooling fan to the back while filming. Especially if you’re not just doing short clips. It’s more stuff to add I know but you’re already have too many attachments to begin with when using the cage. Anyway I’ve already tried what I mentioned just not with the cage. I only used one of those iPhone holders to hold it as close to the bottom part of the phone to give room to the fan and used it that way. But with the Beast Cage it would be so much better.

The manufacture of the cage is perfect and of good quality. Just a little disappointed when I received my cage for iPhone X this morning, I thought when I bought it that it was compatible with "Moment" lenses. However, the mounting system is bigger... I'm going to have to buy my lenses again.

All other smartphone videos should be measured against your top notch work! 🥇 BTW - what is you opinion on fixed vs variable ND filters - ease of use vs quality vs sharpness vs cost - etc

Thank you so much Philip, means a lot to me. I prefer variable ND filters due to their convenience. Especially on cloudy days where the exposure can change drastically you won’t have to exchange the filter and can instead just twist it. VNDs are a bit more pricey however it’s worth the convenience as I want to be able to capture moments quickly. In terms of quality I don’t notice a difference between a fixed and vnd. Important is that you buy quality filters and avoid cheap glass. In terms of sharpness. With every glads you put in front of the lens you loose a little bit of sharpness. However with iPhones this is actually a good thing as they are usually over-sharpen.

I like the lens compatibility, but you have to change the cage every time you upgrade iphone. For me id probably sell my sandmarc stuff and switch entirely to beastgrip pro/lenses

I really like your videos. But so far I can't find an answer to this question. Is there such a telephoto lens on the iPhone 13 that you can quickly switch between cameras without removing it from the case? And at the same time works well with the iPhone's built-in app camera.

Each cage is designed for a particular phone and in most cases a different cage is required. However if you change phones frequently you might consider getting a universal cage that works with most phones. You‘ll have to check the payload capacity. If it exceed the payload capacity you will have to use a stronger gimbal.

Hard to tell, it comes down to your shooting needs. Both are great and you can’t go wrong with either one. I just prefer the iPhone because I‘m in their eco system and everything just works.

yes it does work just make sure to film in food lighting conditions so that it can detect the contrast points better :)

I tried shooting cinematic mode covering the lidar sensor with finger but to my amazement, it worked! Please I request if you can check it with your telephoto lens on the main sensor and making a cinematic video with f2.2. Can you send it on gdrive? I can’t tell you how helpful it will be for me. As I can’t afford to buy the lens incase it doesn’t work as I was expecting🙏

No doubt it's a good accessory but we photographer spend on product and stick with that for a while. Investing on this kind of tool has no long future as the dimension of iPhone may change with prior to no notice and all the investment will no longer work
