I know the symmetry is Otterbox’s option to compete vs thinner cases but the real deal from Otterbox is still the defender. I bought the symmetry for the first time after years of using the Defender and really felt the Symmetry will not protect my phone. It’s also slippery

They haven’t on mine. I don’t run it too often but from what I’ve seen on my case & others, the sides seem fine over time.

It can show some scratching if it’s against a hard enough surface. I haven’t seen a MagSafe ring on any of them though.
