I love my XS Max, and wasn’t really having major enough issues with it to switch, but decided to upgrade at the same time as getting my wife a new 14 to replace her 8. The major things I’m looking forward to are the very slight screen size increase, having access to the 5G band, the move to 128GB base storage, and the more intense memory and processor leading to fewer instances of webpages crashing as the mobile web gets more and more broken with aggressive ads/trackers and lazy coding (even with intense adblocking on). I’m /really/ not happy about losing 3D Touch though.

I got the XS max when it launched and replaced it with the 12 pro max when it launched. Now got the 14 pro max, basically on a 2 year cycle but man the XS max in gold was such a gorgeous phone. I will say that one huge jump from the XS max to my newer phones is definitely the camera with the addition of wide angle and night mode make a huge difference.

Was super curious about this one, it’s my first apple iPhone XS Max I ever owned, before the S8 seeing it compared to the new one is pretty cool, I definitely miss 3D Touch, Favorite feature on the iPhone. It’s still ahead of its time, just lacks battery, 5g. Honestly wouldn’t have updated to an iPhone 13 Pro Max I would still have it, works with iOS 16

I still have the xs max, and it still works fine for me! I was scared the new ios update was going to slow it down, but it really wasn’t the case + for every day usage it works perfectly fine. I can see myself keeping it for another year easily and maybe upgrading next year

If you are not using the phone extensively for photography/videography they are pretty much neck on neck for daily use. You might see abit more lag and stutter on the XS but they are about the same. And of coz the massive improvement of the battery life on the 13 pro max and 14 pro max I’ve the XS is quite dramatic

I still don't feel like I'm missing out on much by sticking with my XS Max - things have improved with each new generation, but it's definitely not night and day, at least not for my uses. And I'm really reluctant to give up 3D Touch. Long pressing to bring up context menus feels *_so_* slow by comparison. I suppose I'd get used to it if I had to, but it irks me that I'd be losing something I use a lot if I upgraded. The only thing that's really showing its age to me is the battery. Might get that replaced.

@Rylin Michelle Gough I know what Haptic Touch is. It’s just what Apple calls a long press with haptic feedback. Relies on that rather than pressure like 3D Touch. It’s slower as a result. I can see most people not noticing or caring and I probably would get used to it. Still don’t like it.

​@Rylin Michelle Gough I don't know if you've turned yours off but 3D Touch is still functioning on mine exactly as it did when I bought the phone. It's not a long press, it's a hard press. The flashlight and camera buttons on the lock screen do not respond to a long press at all - you have to hard press them. That's the whole point of what I was saying in the original comment - having to long press rather than hard press would be an inconvenience.

I paid £1k back in 2018 for the xs max , it would be pathetic if the phone felt slow thankfully after 4 years it I havent had any issues and battery life holds up the full day at 84% on ios 15.1

The XR has 1gb less RAM than the XS Max but same A12 Bionic, performance would be similar to XS Max but it will just reload apps more often.

I have my main phone as a S21 Plus. I also had a iPhone XS Max for use as my iPhone since my whole family uses iMessage and Facetime. Sadly i dont have the phone anymore. The XS Max was a great phone but i dont want to get another big iPhone to carry with my S21 Plus. I still wanna get something newer that will last 2-3 years with better cameras.
