The holes on the side are for key chains or charms etc.. the Blue case with the heart came with a thread like thingy that's meant to be attached to the holes at the side of the case

The holes on the side are for charms or a wrist strap. Some people just loop them through the bottom where the speaker/plug is but it’s better to loop them through those holes on the side. Also, no screen protector is brave 😭 I’d be too stressed about scratching or cracking the screen.
