[CLARIFICATION] This is not my full review, folks! I know it has many of the hallmarks of one, but I haven't yet had time to get a good handle on things like battery life, call quality, etc (and I'm having a lot of fun testing the new Voice Isolation feature). So if you're writing to say that I forgot something - that's because it's not a review. Stay tuned! 🙏

Can't remember if you touch on this in your other reviews, but could you specifically talk about how true to life the photos are when comparing them? Like which ones overblow the colours or are too dark in certain areas. The photos you take are great and varied so well compared to some other reviewers' photos that I see. You's make for great references when determining which phone's camera I prefer. It could also just be they are closer to pictures I'd want to take, but not sure. Really considering switching to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, my first iPhone since the iPhone 4S so apologies if I'm being a bit overzealous in asking for this.

I think one thing missed here is why in the US Apple is becoming a monopoly (I'm not so sure there's really a competition going on since then you would have seen riskier moves). Vast majority of people are not shopping around or even watch tech reviews. They just buy what family and friends have and Apple does everything to keep their system closed as much as possible to any other brands. Second branding, no one is waiting hours in line for a new model, but they did again for this phone.

It is a rare industry that after 15 years is still innovative. What else can we shove into a candy bar phone? It’s a mature market and the sea change of foldable has not yet gained traction to make it rise above a niche market versus the 1.4 billion candy bar phones sold worldwide yearly. I do not expect it ever will as it will mature much faster than candy bar phones despite Samsung holding out to draw out the process.

I really miss those times when phones actually come with a variety of sizes and materials, with UI making use of the screen (remember Xperia Mini which had a really fluid and intuitive corner-based timescape UI?). Not to mention custom back covers and accessories in the box. Each phone was unique in it's own way. Now we have a whole bunch of similar looking rectangular glass bricks with little to no difference in experience, and new launches are like "okay so we launched the same phone for the past 3 years, now deal with it"

Apple seems like it doesn’t care about the competitions latest foray like the foldables and all gimmicks thats aren’t even fully realized. Love the concept of vertical foldables. Still hate the crease. I don’t know how apple would solve that tbh. That’s what I like about them because they are concerned about things like that. When “bezel to bezel” screens became a thing for android, I hated the “chin.” When apple came up with their version of the full display with the iphone X, I looooved that they went with the symmetrical bezels all around by engineering a folded bottom panel. The “chin” still exists on mid to cheap androids to this day. That’s why I love the nothing phones over any foldable because of their attention to detail as well.

@@seabedrockunless it thinks a technology is a sure bet, Apple rarely is a first adopter. Rather a wait and see adopter. Foldables…just aren’t there yet from a practicality standpoint of everyday use. Most ordinary users don’t replace their phone for several years, and foldables just don’t have that longevity now. I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple unveils one in the coming years after it thinks they have perfected it, or the competition has. Until then….they have absolutely no reason to.

There seems to be a trend emerging because I have the 14Pro and a game like NIKKE (moderately demanding) brings the device to untouchable levels of hot (even outside and caseless). Android just treats me better lol. I have full control over my device and there are no silly limitations that are frankly insulting to my intelligence. On top of that, and this is a big one, the android community is not as snobby and privileged as the iPhone community. It's even deeper than that. You can chain multiple actions together from across a variety of apps (including third party ones), like instantly take a photo, crop it to a square, and email it to a friend. Or turn on dark mode, open Netflix on your Apple TV, turn off your smart lights, set your phone to silent, and send a WhatsApp to a friend that you're ready to start the movie. You can include "if, then, otherwise" functions that change what the shortcut does based on the time of day, your location, which focus mode you have on, the volume of your phone, or any other number of factors. You can even go as far as writing snippets of code to run.

so the 5 features are 1) a programmable button which you can find on other android devices (xperia), or through software functionality (android lockscreen has 2 "corner" functions, Samsung (and others) has the edge panel, Moto has the karate-chop & twist functions...) and the button is also terribly placed. Great. 2) a feature Apple was dragged into, kicking and screaming 3) a somewhat customized Always-On Display feature which I could replicate on my android, but when I don't use my phone, I just... don't use my phone, so just displaying the time is enough and displaying photos is distracting 4) power that can run console-grade games but on a tiny screen with no ability to output the video... i.e. STILL no desktop mode 5) camera that can be matched or superceded (sometimes by a phone 1/2 or even 1/4 its price (Pixel A, anyone?)) Competition is good, yes. But Apple has basically decided to compete on the strenghts of its marketing and very tiny gradual improvements that are years behind Android, they just market it as if Always-On Display or animated notifications were a never-before-seen feature.

I'm switching from 10+ years of samsung use to iPhone. When I ordered a new Samsung S22 two things jumped out at me: -Samsung killed SD card, and wants to sell me cloud services, just like apple. -Samsung copied the iPhone design, except it feels cheaper. I sent the S22 back. Why would I buy a phone with worse build quality, same drawbacks, that feels cheap and has worse integration? I've decided to just get apple since I'll be forced to stop using sd cards eventually anyway. Plus there are some perks such as being able to play Genshin Impact with 120fps and controller support, and in general a more stable OS. MagSafe charger is gonna be pretty fun, and I hope the greed was worth it for Samsung.

Basically the video just says you don't loose too much functionality anymore. And that is exactly the problem. I switched from iOS and looking back the only thing that made them better than iOS was the fact that I believed it was so. Android has no limitations, you don't need an action button becauss you have the freedom to map functions the buttons, which sit in the right place. IOS was really unintuitive compared to android. They have a real gallery with seperate folders, easy access from any computer, Android Auto is so much better than carplay........I was always believing Apple is best, but the reality is, that Android looks by far not as good, but it works so much better and I don't need a phone to show off but to work with.

The Apple 15 isnt a threat. Its not even a threat to its earlier models. Tell me which version of iPhone someone is holding when the 15 looks near similar down to the 11 pro. 11 to 15 all have the triple cameras with same housing. You can tell a S21U from a S22U to S23U from Samsung because they at least changed the camera bevels. Performance, 15 is 10% from 14 which was 15% from 13. So 2 generations equal 25% increase? The camera is still a 12MP camera like the previous iphones from generations ago. Its a 48mp with quad binning, so no, its not 24MP but 12. They might be using the details from a 48mp shot and incorperating it into the 12MP for a combination of pulling in more light with the binning and then overlaying the detail from the 48mp data, but its not a true 24mp shot. Its like renting out a 2 bedroom apartment and claiming its 3 when you shortened the other two and the main room to make the the 3rd bedroom.

I switched from the fold 4 to the 15 Pro Max 1TB on release. Purely for sake of convenience. With the folds (Still have both) I could not find a case locally, nor could I get it repaired locally for less than half the price of a new fold phone. Like, Literally $1,200 AUD glass replacements and 7 stores did not have a phone case. I bought the 15 Pro max 1TB on release for $3,000 AUD ($1,999 USD). $500 more than the fold 4, which was only a 256. After ordering a case 2 weeks ago for my fold, it’s still not here. Par the reason I “upgraded”. So far for 2 days use time, it’s been a difficult experience transitioning, I’m not a fan of iOS. (Haven’t had an iPhone since the 4Gs or whatever it was called). I honestly feel Samsung’s UI is miles apart. Apple feels like a 3 year old’s spaghetti covered $99 Spy Tablet from China.

I'm intrigued by it, I think I'm getting the middle storage tier of the 15 Pro Max. it really was that USB C that sealed the deal for me. Would be better if they supported the Pencil with it as well. BUT I'll use the 15 Pro Max for my MS number and use my 23 Ultra for my IL number since I use the IL phone WAY MORE than I do the MS one. I moved to Mississippi after living in Illinois for 27 years. But this also means we should finally get some snazzy accessories for that USB C port as well. Since it won't be locked off by a Lightning port. I experimented with the 12 Max whatever, and hated it, but iOS has opened up more and I just installed 17 on my iPad Mini. BUT I normally use my Tab S9 Plus.

Nobody does multi-unit integration as seamlessly as Apple, being able to listen to music on my phone, sit down at a desk and with the press of one button I'm listening to the video playing on my computer is done so well that nobody comes even remotely close. again, android is a device, and Apple is an experience.

Not convinced to switch from Google Pixel line of devices. My list is now: Pixel 3aXL (white 64GB) - my gateway into the world of Pixel, while low tech specs, battery life was tremendous. Now retired on Lineage OS (Android 12) still does the job for when I need a device that I dont mid throwing around. Pixel 4a5G (Black 128GB) - 5G opened up poductivity on this mid spec device, rocking Android 14 beta with unlocked bootloader for Magisk support for zero ads I use it as a work phone, easily still does 36 hours before battery needs to be recharged. Pixel 6 Pro (White 128GB) - Beautiful design if flawed execution of the custom SoC that said it's a beast in terms of camera and yes it's an oven with high temps but can still go hard if you don't mind holding a hot device. Upside? People crap on Tensor Gen 1 but seriously it's got power and more than enough for Android 13, 14, 15 and probably 16. Pixel Pro 7 (White 256GB) - Google took the design flaws of the 6pro and squashed them, back to back testing gainst what would be omsidered the sister device the Samsung Galaxy S23+ and it kicks it's backside time and time again, Google listened to the criticism of the 6Pro and fixed the Tensor SoC, the Pro7 is a beast and stays cool under pressure. As for Apple? Meh, no doubt it's a very good device but yeah the company itself is the issue not the devices they make, until Apple fix their core errors I and many others won't be swayed by what they produce.

I hate to admit it but I've switched to iPhone over Android a year ago after being vocal about Android's capabilities. Sure, I still miss my old phone and a lot of its features but the iPhone has been reliable for me. Suddenly I lost the apetite for customization and power features and just wanted to have simpler, more cohesive, and streamlined workflow to ease up my work. One of the reasons I've also switched is I bought an iPad Air. Apple just basically pushed me over the edge. I needed the iPad for work reasons but then I wished that I could sync up my Android and iPad which you know is very limited. Now I'm all in the Apple Ecosystem except for my desktop. I'm looking to purchase a MacBook or a Mac Mini soon.
