The white balance of the iPhone is not as consistent as the Pixel. Sometimes too warm, sometimes green. I will go for the Pixel

S 23 ultra just brightens up every picture and over processes the hell out of it. The iPhone is regularly way to warm when compared to white balance in life. Pixel is most definitely the most balanced and best overall for me. Also, most pictures I take is of moving objects(my kids, pets, events) and Samsung takes a BIG hit with moving subjects. In 2023, all phones take good pics. Just personal preference. Great video!!

I will choose S23 Ultra everytime,its best and another thing is those oversharpness can be fixed using the Camera Assistant inside camera settings ( set it to medium) and booom ✨ now every shot will be processed perfectly 💯

I think both the Pixel and the iPhone looks great. So what it would come down to for me would be something like speed. How long does it take each phone to actually take a picture in different situations like in low light

Also some really great responses in this thread. Low light this year id say iPhone but yeah for moving objects it’s always been pixel for me until this year. I think they are putting too much emphasis on AI and post processing and it’s just not as consistent as they were like on the pixel 4 and even 3 series.

In my opinion the photos of the Pixel 8 Pro are way too bright, selfies look pale.

So I’ve had all three phones this year and honestly I think the 15 is the most consistent across the board add that and superior video its just the best all around. That said, it does have the advantage with the hdr5 and pixel binning where images are no longer in 12mp but now 24mp format so you retain a lot of quality in the images especially when viewing on a large screen. That aside the pixel 8 pro has the best macro capabilities I’ve seen so far due to that upgraded ultrawide sensor and then the s23 ultra has the best zoom. Honestly though end of the day the regular base 15 is a stellar deal too. Sure you lose out on macro and telephoto zoom but the average joe is going to get great shots with the base model and save a few hundred bucks.

The reason Iphone always wins overall is because the images are so close now its just preference. But the video isn't as close, its a landslide in Apples favor.

Default mode with nothing changed in settings? Because the s23 has settings to turn off the oversharpened and oversaturated look via camera assistant. Yes, doing research is hard for 'muricans but it's a one time toggle and you're set. It's not hard. Not everything has to be spoonfed. One sticking factor is really the overexposed pictures. I find myself lowering the brightness by 1/4 before snapping to get that pixel like look.

That is true. But they have to do these in default; otherwise it gets complicated. The good news is comments like yours can direct people to the settings that can change to improve the default mode. However, I do wonder why Samsung does not have these as default? I suspect it appeals to the teen demographic that loves the oversaturated look.

Most comparisons will never be objective until we learn each device properly and then shot for best shot, rather than the unrealistic auto test. Galaxy phones have been better at Stills outright since the s10. Video has always been neck and neck due to pro mode and now 8k which the narratives are the same on 80per of the videos until iphone adapts. People like what they like, but the iphone been taking a beating in all areas for a while, and it's only going to get worse, And I know they sell the best but their devices are carried by a narrative and the people, not output. Speaking strictly on the phones capabilities only.

You're a logical fanboy. 😂. "Learn each device properly" is insane and unrealistic for majority. The masses are not pro photographers or want to learn. I've owned the s8,s10+, and now s22+. Stills have always been decent with terrible shutter lag. The video isn't close imo because of noise and detail but that's debatable. Apple Pro Res/Log looks the best rn. And the video on auto is better. The amount of coping Samung fans do amazes me.

@@ernstt1616 yeah so in a comparison with sponsors and the masses watching, you should be logical. It's not insane at all, if you just watch you can see, but it's up to the ones that know not to misinform. Was watching a oneplus open vs zfold comparison and the presenters pointed out things the average user wouldn't be able to execute or locate in settings, worth noting for the sake of reality and progress. Most comparisons are not only false but a failed opportunity. Ultra has too much range in photos and video. It can reach levels the others can't and these presenters should point that out, otherwise we're stuck thinking you can't get that shot without noise lol.
