Samsung phones are very important outside the US and have advantage in that sense. Pixel phones are not supported in most countries and software features like Google VPN are blocked. iPhones are more expensive outside the US and the price gap is even bigger. Basic iPhone costs almost a thousand dollars. But Samsung phones cost similarly around the world. Hence midrange Samsung phones are very important outside the US because they are basically the only option to get an affordable phone with premium feel and safety considerations in terms of software.

After just one year, my old Redmi Note 9s started lagging and crashing. Samsung is the only viable option if you want an Android device in any country that Pixel phones aren't supported in.

Delayed notifications, small ads even when you turn off the personalization, some Xiaomi apps download on its own despite deleting it multiple times. I would opt for Samsung a55 even if it means the phone is underperforming on Games than Chinese phones

In Norway the A55 is like 5000 NOK for 256 Storage and 4500 for 128, while the 128 storage iPhone 15 costs around twice the amount, at around 8000-9000 depending on where you buy it from. Even if the A55 is just a tad bit slower, it costs around half the amount of the iPhone. So I would take the A55 any day over the iPhone just because how much I save

I made the mistake buying a S20. For my wife and daughter I got the A55. The A55 is superior is every way, camera's, speed, battery life, all way better. Except for the rather large format as I like to have a smaller phone. Apple OS and pricing are not an option :)

Talking about biometrics: Apple needs the entire bigfoot dynamic island to make their 3d face unlock work, while not having an alternative. now lets make the test after a year of daily usage :) i've been using android (mostly samsung) for 10 years and i'm currently using an s21 fe which is basically a "A" phone dressed up as an "S" so people can fall for getting a "flagship". after one year to this date the phone can't hold more than 2 apps in the background and everything is lagging, literally any interaction is delayed by 1 second and all animations are on 10 fps. i've tried resetting the phone, debloating it but nothing works. my friend is using an iphone 11 since the release of an iphone 12 and it works better after 4 years of NO MAINTENANCE at all. the only that needs a change is the battery.

Thank you, someone who said it. These phones are nice in the beginning then suffer from the gradual decline that midrangers always suffer from. My son had the A54, I was impressed with it at first then after about half a year he started coming to me about his phone being really slow. After a year we had enough and switched to an iPhone 13 that we got for free in a carrier deal. What a breath of fresh air.

Iphone no direct to home screen option kinda makes the unlock a weird comparison considering swiping up adds time and motion. Got rid of my A34 for both the face and finger unlock reliabilty/speed, shame the 55 seems little better.
