I like the camera control button although it did take awhile to figure out the presses and function.

I mean for real…do you think the camera button was necessary? Fastest way is to click on camera from Lock Screen or swipe over to take a pic. I don’t think it needed to be there.

No one cares what you think. Do you really believe that someone is going to read your comment and NOT buy a new iPhone 16? MKBHD beats up the iPhone in every video he does. Apple was the trend setter when it came to phones. Go back and look at what phones used to look like before the iPhone was introduced and what they look like after. EVERYONE copied the iPhone. It is by no means a friendly conversation.

I don’t know why nobody mentioned this, but the camera control button might be Apple’s experiment with haptic buttons. In the future apple might replace all other physical buttons with haptic ones, as rumours have already suggested.

Nice, succinct tutorial. I’ve been using the Camera Control a lot and really like it. There’s a bit of an initial learning curve, but once muscle memory takes over it’s quite a useful tool, especially for those who are more serious about photography. Looking forward to the upcoming “soft press to focus lock” function.

Anyone remember the iPhone 11 battery case that apple made that had a button for the camera

I’m really struggling with this control. It seems to always open on a zoom slider. I never zoom like that - I only use the native zooms (I.e. 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 5.0). In this video I can see you’ve got those options but without the full zoom slider between them. What am I doing wrong? Why can’t I find this option? 🤔
@MrJitakungКүн бұрын
You need to change from zoom to cameras in camera control

Do you continuously have to hold the button down when recording a video.
@AppleInsider2 күн бұрын
If you press and hold, a video starts recording. That's called QuickTake. As long as you hold it, the video records. Once you release, the video stops. Or you can tap the circle on the screen to continue recording without holding. Alternatively, you can also just switch it into video mode and then press and release to start recording.

They need to add extra buttons to the iPhone, even though their philosophy has always been to remove buttons. I'm sure Jony Ive would have had a different approach. However, Apple is lacking so much innovation on the iPhone that they are actually reversing their philosophy by adding more buttons, like an "Action button" and a "Camera Control button." Of course, these are haptic buttons, but they are still adding extra components instead of taking them away, as Apple usually would

I got the 16 PM on 09/20 and I haven’t use Camera Control once. I already set the Action Button to camera on my 15PM and Action Button is 0.5 click (just hold) while Camera Control is 2 clicks (it open the camera on 2nd release) from screen off which is way longer. Trying to change setting or take photo with Camera Control also takes way longer because everything is 3 clicks away while screen is 1 to 2 clicks away Apple really is falling behind Chinese phones

Yes. iPhone went 17 years without the ability to pause video recording until iOS 18 or iPhone 16. It’s always something that puzzled me as Android can pause video recording for 10+ years. Same with T9 dialing, and free arrange icons

If you can still swipe left from the lock screen to open the camera app I dunno why the button got all this hype. It’s nothing more than a shutter, cuz everything else is a short lived gimmick.

I was thinking of getting an iPhone 16 Pro - went to the Apple store - tried out all the iPhone 16 models - the camera control button was less than appealing; fiddly, in the wrong position for comfortable use, and considering it takes less that 1 second to go to and use the controls on the screen, it’s pretty much just a gimmick, and a poorly thought out gimmick at that. I much prefer the ease of use of my iPhone 15 Pro, and difference in photo quality is so minimal it would be a real stretch to call it an upgrade of any merit. I’m sticking with my 15 Pro.

16 ProMax with most recent 18.0 camera button usually causes an instant camera crash and springboard crash. Camera app will instantly crash when opened from the touchscreen too afterwards and only way I’ve found to fix is rebooting. Wondering if I got a hardware or software issue. After reboot it works as advertised for a while but after several hours problem reappears. After the crash the iPhone gets warm too, not hot but noticeably warm.
