I think with 16 Pro Max is a sizeable upgrade from the 13 Pro Max but one doesn’t have to upgrade from the 13 Pro Max which is one of the best iPhones of all time and the 16 Pro Max is kind of that moment, particularly with battery life.

I have the 12 pro max too (256 GB) and it got sluggish too, but I deleted a lot of pictures and videos and freed up half the storage and it’s fast again. Maybe try that?

Check your battery health. If it’s below 80% better change the battery. If that’s not a problem. Check the storage of your iPhone. If it’s used upto 95%. Delete and maintain a free storage of 5 to 10gb.

Yeah dude mine is fried. My camera is super glitchy and takes forever to focus and it wasn’t like that at all. There’s no scratches on the lenses or anything. The better health was at 70% last year so I got it replaced and the new one is even worse, when the battery percentage gets to 20% it goes to 1 in less than 5 minutes. But other than the battery it’s a smidge slower now.

I have the 12 pro max, 76% battery life. I will just replace the battery and 2 more years to go with this awesome phone. I know it doesn’t have 120hz but my life…. I use my pc’s monitor with 240hz and its too much for me. 60hz is enough for me.

Agreed. The value of 12pm goes down so more money to pay to trade in. I plan on trading it in now for 16pm for battery/storage/camera. If I were to trade it in for a newer iPhone, it would take off more money and so on.

I love these comparisons, I would definitely recommend upgrading if someone is on a 12 Pro Max as the upgrades are more substantial with 120Hz Promotion, Apple Intelligence and the much improved cameras as well as significantly better battery life. Great comparison Nick.

I replaced my battery at the Apple store (apple care) and the overheating went away. The battery life is MUCH better. I used to have to charge it twice a day. Now I can get to the end of the day with still 50-20%. Battery health has stayed at 97% for a year straight with the new battery as well. I keep getting tempted by 120hz but when I compared my phone to 15 opening apps at the Apple store, some apps were opening faster on the 12. I'd recommend trying a new battery out first. If you still really want the 120hz - go 16.

The comparisons are so marginal when it comes to average daily use which doesn't justify a yearly upgrade. I guess the latest iPhones are for those who really need the performance boost as it relates to gaming, video recording and editing.

In other words you never even utilize the hardware in full on iOS cause it is not demanding

I’ve had problems with my 12 pro max since day one, screen has always reacted without being touched and will constantly freeze up and glitch. Even had the screen and battery replaced at different points and still a ton of issues. Obviously the 16 pro max isn’t much better than this phone but I’m ready to stop having these annoying issues

The fact that you can hardly see any different on the scrolling speed on the 16PM vs the 12 PM shows that how badly Apple use the 120Hz capability. Go and test it side by side with any 120Hz screen Android and you will be surprised. That's why I can not understand the big hash about the regular 16 only got 60Hz and not 120Hz. Like it's do some different in Apple world. No it does not.
